I believe Poland Spud said every week or so depending on how often you use it.
which reminds me, i need to add oil to my regular air compressor.... |

i don't think it has any negative effect on the gun... I would even say that it has positive effect because it lubricates it and prevents rusting...
well if you want to you can always buy or make an oil filter but AFAIK some of the oil mist sticks to hte internal walls of an air hose - so you can always use gravity to help you prevent the oil from entering the gun ( hmm I hope you understand what I mean ) |

Looks like I won't be making a pump for a while. There is a reason I have 2 fridges in my backyard that don't work....The compressor is fooked It makes absolutely no sound when plugged in....it's just...dead... |

| Will a a/c compressor from a car work also? If it does you could run it of a 12 volt battery for a more portable gun. |

not sure what you are talking about... are you refering to this kind of thing? If so the answer is no.
As for the 12v battery, sure, if you hooked it up to a 12vdc-120vdc converter, but I don't see the point, given its immense size and weight. |

| I'm curious to know wheather a 300psi A/C pump would work in the same way as a fridge compressor... Hmmm... |

yes, it does work the same way. It compresses air with a piston. What other ways are there? It will not however, work like a fridge compressor in that they generally suck, break in a few hours of use, and can't go to very high pressures with out breaking all the faster. I am not sure what you are getting at here, but the point of a fridge compressor is that it can handle very high pressures, has a very long life, and is on the quiet side.
Last time I checked, a 300psi compressor did compress air... |

| Piston types arnt the only ones. There is also a diaphragm compressor. Not sure how they work though... |

What about the air conditioning compressors from cars? They look similar. |

| air conditioning is exactly the same thing as a fridge, only with a different name, and not nearly as high of quality I would expect, though I could be wrong. It doesn't seem like it would need be as powerful as it doesn't need to chill as much as a freezer does. |

@ lentamentalisk I suspect it's just the opposite... that an air conditioning compressor is more powerful than a fridge compressor... eventhough it doesn't have to freeze stuff it has to cool a lot of air in a relatively short time
now the difference between a 12V compressor and fridge compressor is simple ->
one year ago I bought a tire compressor, it was loud, it took ages to pump the gun and after less than two weeks it broke down
My fridge compressor is quiet, it allows me to achieve pressures above 400 psi and it still works well since June or July (I don't remember exactly when I built it)
I know that people had problems to find them but once you manage to get one it works very well... now I can't imagine spudding without it |

Same here!
This thing makes everything a lot better.More pressure, no effort, no noise, no extra costs.
Great for testing high pressure designs without wasting costly CO2. |

hey guys,
im tossing up the idea of installing one of these in the boot of my car.
would make life alot easier. now my question is, how 'g force' proof are they lol
im the kind of driver that doesnt think slowpoints need to be slowed for... and consequencing this g force is applied to me and everything else in my car.. lol
so yea is it that delicate or? |

| when I move or shake the compressor I hear that there is something clanking inside... but hey these things are being transported somehow don't they ? and they are used in air conditioning so we may assume that there shouldn't be any problems |
