Man, that is a full size shock. Somehow I thought you were talking about a pneumatic hood lifter from earlier. I loved the slow return of the barrel after the recoil.
Even with the recoil system the unit still jumps back some on the ground. I see you're trying to brake it some there...maybe some stakes in the ground or something?
Have you tried shooting anything other than water?
Nice job on this! You've got a couple of bad boy pistons there...

| wow... i think you could proboably use a bigger barrel on that.... is that 2 inch or is the probable 6inch chambers throwing off my judgement.....

lol yea, that barrel is the shortest we got. It's a 3" barrel by like maybe 6 ft.
and yes the chambers are 6".
we have a golf ball barrel, a 2.5" barrel for tennis balls and beer bottles  , and a 1.25" barrel for steel bearings

haha compared to the chambers the barrel looks like 2 inch...... that really puts the size of this cannon into persepctive.

yeah water will defiantly add a lot of recoil to any gun.
looks good and I like the name. The tanks should be called whoppers because they give this beast one giant blood clot (coagulation)

| Wow, that is a nifty cannon you have there! I love how the pressure gauges are mounted in the wood frame, and the recoil system. This could quite possibly be my new favorite cannon on this site!

Now that thing's impressive. It isn't very often that we get a really good launcher posted around here. The two 3" porting valves would be equal to roughly 4.2" of flow. And great job on the pistons. It's nice to see something that doesn't look like it was thrown together in 2 days once in a while.
But please, please get a longer barrel. The current situation is a terrible waste of power. At anything resembling an efficient C:B, this thing should have at least 20' of 3" barrel. 20' of 4" would be just slightly on the long side, but you'd get amazing power out of it.
Also, why is the backplate PVC? Wouldn't the UHMWPE you used in the piston be a safer backplate material? Even ABS or polycarbonate, both of which are dirt cheap, would be a much safer material for that part.

well we used UHMW for the piston for its self-lubricating properties and sometimes its not too friendly for machining, so we used the type II PVC basically b/c it is impact resistant and easier to machine.
...And yes we do have longer barrels. The one thats on there was just for testing.

and each one of those is at least 15 ft.... and they are that short just for ease of transportation.

| Amazing job man! This is one of the best cannons I've seen in a while! I cant wait to see what that thing will do with a longer barrel! The recoil absorber spring is a great addition to this beast. Again, excellent work!

Great job on the gun. That is the best recoil system I've seen on a spudgun.
Although you may consider trying to add some bracing directly behind the tee that the barrel attaches to. With PVC guns it is usually a good idea to support the recoil in the most direct manner possible.
