I have my noise maker ready for July 4th. It's very loud and reloads simply by pushing the plunger down.

Here is the thread

As for hearing it 5km away, well...I might have to work on something else.

How bout the famous oxy acetylene trash bag? Ive done a couple of those at my grandparents house and they are probably the loudest things i have ever heard. It brings a nice BOOM in your chest. Those large black trash bags for lawn care are the best.

Sure, as long as you have a hundred foot long hose to fill them. Other than that, you're just asking for permanent deafness. I prefer slightly less unstable components, but the detonation of the acetylene would certainly make an impressive noise if it could be done safely.

*wishes he had and Iwoa class Battleship*

lol, ppl would think its raining nukes if they fired this on land

but for noisemaker, maybe but a ballon of oxygen, and 1 ballon of acetylene in a trash-bag, then shoot the trash-bag with a sparkler?

Edit: i just realized i could fit in the barrels Shocked

OMFG do they have a water cooling system there for the barrels? you see that steam or what ever shooting out after each shot?

Do you realize that what it produces is hydrogen and aluminum oxide?
Now think for a moment... Hydrogen... Lots of it... Hydrogen burns fast...

I made a hydrogen torch out of a wine bottle filled with Al foil and the works, it was officially awesome. I also made a bong for the wine bottle (to cool the hot gases, and get rid of the Aluminum oxide particles) and filled up balloons with the hydrogen. They make nice loud bangs when you ignite them.

Illegal Noisemaker- 50g flash powder in a a 1" cardboard tube with 3/8" thick walls.

Legal Noisemaker- FEAR with no barrel and a 5x mix, and soon to be 10x mixes.

I am planning to build a combustion noisemaker, it will be 1 meter of at least 125mm diameter pipe, with a large diameter burst disk.
It will have metered propane, alot of spark gaps and some fans.

Would a smaller hybrid gun be louder?

Edit: Ive always loved this video, the sound is really awesome.
I am building an electrolysis machine btw..... Twisted Evil

It's a good thing the sound was awesome, because, judging by the lack of hearing protection, it's the last sound some of them ever heard.

I've never tried those any bigger than 10g, and even that got people's attention. I don't know if it is legal in Canada or not, but I'm presuming it isn't, as no legal noisemaker could be so simple and entertaining as that. The 10g flash wasn't anywhere near as loud as the 35L oxy/propane balloon though.

If anyone here has ever done oxy/fuel balloons, they'll know how amazing the difference is between internal and external ignition. Why there is such a huge difference, I have no idea, as the pressure would never build to any significant level anyway. I measured the pressure in a near-bursting balloon to be 0.2 psi, so I don't see how the ones with internal ignition get so loud.

Thanks for the tip! When my electrolysis machine is done I am planning to do some H2/O2 balloon bangs.

I think the reason that they are louder, is that it just keeps the fuel (and ogygen) together for a little more time, allowing better combustion.
Maybe because mass is slow, the walls of the balloon need to rip open, and it relatively takes alot of time for it to burst.

I was doing tests in my shed with 12" balloons withstupid, and the ones I lit from the outside with a torch on a stick couldn't be heard without some effort from my house 50' away. When I ignited one with a sparkplug system inside the balloon, it knocked things off the walls, and rattled the windows of my house.

Same energy, more efficient method. Even a 4" diameter balloon with internal ignition was louder than the 12" without. So far, I've only seen one application of this method on Youtube, and that was the Mylar UFO of Doom, as I like to call it.

How did you get a spark plug system inside a balloon, and also add fuel to it?

My idea top do it would be a T-piece a the balloons mouth with spark system on one branch, and a ballvalve on the other, which is used for fueling up. Though this ignition is not really inside the balloon, it is inside the same volume.

A ghetto way would be fueling up a balloon, and then quickly slip it over an spark plug, losing a bit of fuel.

That's exactly what I did. It's quite a complex looking rig, really. The ball valve and sparkplug can be disconnected via quick connect coupling from the filling hoses and moved away from the tanks for safety and portability - after filling, you can move around with a full balloon that way.

I've also worked out a way to switch from a fueling nipple to a sparkplug nipple in the balloon without losing any fuel at all, but it's too fiddly and ghetto for my tastes.
