noob with pill bottle problems

all right

i am completely new to combustion guns(or an type of spud gun for that matter). im trying to start out by making a pill-bottle q-tip launcher but have run into some problems. i have been tryin to do it with a film canister at first just to try and make it work before i actually use the pill bottle. the cap came flyin off and that wont be a problem once i use the pill bottle but it sure scared my dad. i no that usually you use hairspray or axe for the fuel but my friend used bugspray so i tryed that. that is what i used when the cap blew off. after that, it hasn't sparked very good. i am using a grill lighter(long nosed lighter) with the wires attatched to screws just like your supposed to and everything but it wont spark unless the screws are less than 1mm away from eachother and evn the, it wont light. before, i was getting like a 5mm spark. i have the screws straight across from eachother...do they have to be at an angle? also, do i maybe have to much fuel in the chamber? maybe that is why it wont light.

i may be confusing you so sorry if i am. i just pretty much need help with everything involving a pill bottle gun! plz help me!

Bug spray isn't really a commonly used fuel. A lot of people are actually against it. It'll gum up your camber pretty good. Your screws probably have too much gunk on them to work. Clean them off or get new ones and try using hairspray or deoderant. I have a pill bottle mini that works 90% of the time with hairspray.

Try cleaning the screws. I find that the screws in my cannons tend to collect a residue over time that insulates them and prevents them from transferring current to each other.

if ur having troble geting the fuel mix right just get the butan bitfrom the long nose lighter and put a tiny hole in the side and put the butain nozel in there and u hold it down 4 a few seconds like 2 and u should have a good mix (give or take)

mmmm. try using binaca (the mint breath spray, it has a good amount of alcohol in it). thats what i use in my cannons. either that or something like axe(i dont prefer axe all the time, because it smells up when lit).
