| Well Rambo if you give it a go let fill us in.I would love to see an OA gun mini or not it would still be way cool. And you use O2 in your mini and it might not be the same pressure spike with the use of acetylene but it would cause quite a spike.....but i have seen bombs made with pvc and OA so i wouldnt trust it.. |

And we've all seen bombs with gunpowder, yet it's still almost exclusively used as a propellant in firearms.
What I'm saying is that for a small enough and strong enough chamber, even detonation can be safely confined. It won't improve performance much, but that's another story. I'm just SO sick and tired of people freaking out at the sound of "oxygen", "acetylene" and "nitrous oxide". Cannons using guncotton have been around for years and if you're dumb enough to put that in PVC, you probably deserve to die in the 1st place |

First, fix your link, or a mod or someone, please. I hate the page stretching.
Second, that guy is a retard for using O2 and Propane in ABS, because of the high chance of the ABS rupturing. |

Drac, he'd be more of a retard for using O2-propane in PVC. ABS, as you know, fails in a non-spectacular fashion... it's quite safe.
O2-acetalene has been succesfully used by some in ABS cannons. They wear out after a couple dozen shots or so, however, and the chamber has to be replaced.
It's simply not economical to use such high-powered fuels, although it can be done. |

FiveseveN, The amount of gunpowder in bullets is small compared to a pipe b0mb. And yes, both reach the same pressure when they go off, except guns use this pressure and release it by pushing a bullet out, Pipe b0mbs release it by shattering the container. Second, bullets produce a tiny volume of air compared to pipe b0mb, even tho its the same pressure, the larger volume of air is whats d3adly. It creates a 'Blast Overpressure Wave' which is a large amount of high pressure air pushing all the surrounding air out in a shockwave, and that is what kills you, it scrambles your insides. Ever see movies of b0mbs in vietnam, those white waves are the air condensing into water vapor by the high pressure...
Sorry for the l33t speak, my computer has very restrictive word filters on it |

Duh... I know more about weapons than spudguns.
As long as the barrel isn't obstructed and the chamber is strong enough, an acetylene cannon is nice and safe.
Have you seen the Mythbusters episode where they try blowing up a rifle's barrel? Even in the most extreme conditions, the shooter is safe. |

| Sorry to bring this up again guys, I would have commented earlier but I just registered. I built a combustion cannon last year out of iplex RHINO pipe (pvc-m) and used a mix straight from a welder set for optimal cutting. (stoichiometric mix) I think I would have to agree with fiveseven to a certain extent that in the materials are approriate and you know what you are doing (most importantly) you shouldn't have any problems. And yeah they make a big boom! Don't use it if there are neighbours within 20kms cause you might find yourself in a bit of trouble... Well maybe not that much but you get the idea - it is extremely loud - as far as performance goes, my spud became starch shotgun pellets... |

| I made an oxy-acetylene cannon a few years ago but i used some steel pipe i found in a dumpster that was like 1/2" thick. It worked more that great and never exploded or anything. We did however get the cops called on us more than once becouse of the noise. |
