In many ways this is like the Gunpower Stealth range of airguns Airforce Talon in the US of A), except - they're single shot, and they don't move the whole barrel back to tirgger the hammer valve, just a sliding sleeve.
I like it though, it's very simple, but then the best ideas often are.

ant can you tell me where you by the 6mm barrel?
i by a 6mm id aluminium tube but the airsoft bb´s don´t fit. the barrel is to small.
i buy in homedepot and the manufacturers call "alfer" http://www.alfer.com
please tell me the name of homedepot you buy the barrel holland is neighboring country so i can buy it.
thx jean |
Hey I have looked in Holland and in Germany for these barrels. Ofcourse they are not rifled. This is actually how it all started, I took a 6mm bb gun ball to different shops to c where it would fit in. If you go to construction shops (like the Gamma, Praxis, Toom) you will find a section with small aluminium or copper pipping. Take a bb gun ball and try it in the different pipes, in some it will fit and in others not. So make sure u take a ball to try/test the fit. These pipes cost around 1-2Euro, so not that much. They come in lengths of 1 meter. There is a pipe that fits in it, there is one that fits the barrel on the outside and a real copper pipe(12mm) fits the outside pipe. Like this you can make a very good sealed off sliding system''.

I have seen this gun before on the net. Wasnt sure how it worked though. Looks like a good project to make this. Do u know how the loading port for the bb's closes off? I chose for a moving barrel as it seals of the loading port before the valve is hit.

Some very detailed information about the mechanism here.
This particular style of valve is extremely efficient, in fact the Condor model which uses it gets some of the highest power levels and air efficiency in its class.

I can fully vouch for the power and precision of the Airforce system, mine is my favourite air rifle by far even though loading is a bit fiddly.
There's news on the Airforce Talon site about a repeater being introduced 1st quarter 2008, and it'll be a retrofit. Given the simplicity of their current gun, I'll look forwards to seeing how they've made it repeat, and whether I want to fit it to mine (OH YES I DO, I DO, I DO).

Bob Craske who did the tuning page had worked on something of the sort, here it is.

| Nice... I had a similar idea a while back but i thought it would be impractical because it would use up to much air per shot but i guess I was wrong... Anyways, seeing how air efficient it is, I was wondering... why not change the bottle for a propane tank? They are pretty cheap. 4$ or 5$ if I remember.

I tried that as well, but propage tanks have a valve at the top. I put the tank inline with barrel and all, but this valve wasnt very efficient. The rubber next to the rubber stopper in the propane tank also got damaged due to the hammer hitting its sides and not the valve. I did this measurement, and thickwalled (original) cola bottles can withstand 23 bars of pressure until it breaks. Plz dont try though. My gunz work at 8bars atm but shoot at amazing speeds, accuracy and efficiency. I do have one problem though, if my bb's fly too fast the seam on the ball has allot of effect and the balls wont fly straight anymore. I tried making my own hopup, but due to these seams it didnt work very well.

I was looking at the internals and evrything and I just cant figure out exactly how it works... If i understand, when you press the trigger it realeses the barrel (the hammer) wich is pushed by that spring and hits the valve, this realeases air in the barell, But i cant understand how the barrel is pushed back into place.
And also, how exactly does the trigger work?
Thanks in advance

I was thinking how it could be possible to acomplish full auto with your desing while keeping it as simple as possible and I came up with this... What do you think?
