not really, you'd just need a lot of litheum grease and a lot of pressure holding the barrels and outlet together... I have thought of an idea to use but I'll draw it up later...

Maybe use blowback to gently push another paintball into a barrel not in use?

I’m guessing most of you don’t know exactly how Gatling type weapons work, do you? Wink

I do which is specifically why you cant do it for paintball.

To the OP: The materials in mine are over $300. Thats for the bare metal, I had everything cut on a water Jet, bearings and tube.

The guy you linked to is using a set of $600 bearings from the look of his cannon.

EDIT: one way to have a lower rof is to have less barrels

Because the firing mechanism rotates, while it works really good for firing bullets.

There is far to much wiring and pneumatic hose to run for 6 paintball guns. I could probably machine a rotating air supply, but engineering time and machine cost on that would be in the 10-20k range.

See this example... The rotation speed of the unit, will be far to high to do actuall paintballs and the shock of the thing will rip them to shreds.

Figured it was time for an update...

There was a little wobble in the barrels but not to bad. The board broke the morning of D-Day, It fired better when i used a GMRS radio and hit transmit then it did with the actual trigger.

I still need to find someone to make me some 45 degree right and left side feed necks for ions.

Over all it wasnt to bad for my 1st one. I learned some things, 1 being that i need to buy a tig Welder because people charge to much. 2. Order all my plates at the same damn time because its cheaper to get them cut like that. 3. 75 mm main shaft is WAY to big. I had to use a bicycle sprocket which wasnt ideal.

I have an idea. It would probably work best with 3 barrels to save weight. What you do, is you either build a blow-forward or blow-back piston mechanism, like in the GB-semi, or my design. Then, you add a revolver-type mechanism to spin the barrels like a plain old revolver. If you can get it to work at a high ROF, probably by using a case feed or belt feed system to reduce feed failures. The most problematic part would be reducing the weight of the barrels to allow for easier cycling. You'd probably want to build the piston out of copper so it could handle higher pressure and not shatter (as easily).

I think this is a more complicated mechanism but you never know...

Why not just make a paintball gun with 4 long barrels for more accuracy not volocity in a square shape and make them fully automatic somehow.
blow-forward breeches with something to make pulses of air maybe 1 big air pulser like the one used in the gb-semi. pop four shots were fired short reload .5 seconds pop four more shots were fired. or maybe have four air pulsers and have the barrels fire one after the other pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop.

What advantages would multiple barrel bring?

I cant imagine them getting hot. Maybe with CO2 it'll prevent cooling of the barrels.

Or is it just for the awesome factor?

Rotational issue with paintballs. I worked up some math this past month for shooting down the barrels of rotating tubes. ITs just not feasible. If you Are shooting down a 1.5" barrel so the ball doesnt clip the side and break. The fastest you can make it shoot is 20 balls per second. Granted this assumes barrles on a 2" diameter pattern and 1.5" in diameter.
