I put a tapered cup into my 2" barrel. I cut the cup flush with the top of the barrel. Now I can shoot any object up to 2" in diameter. I've shot walnuts at great heights. The cup fits very snug and lasts a long time. Although it's paper, it's not destroyed. Try this technique. I think it's a major discovery for myself anyway. Tell me what you think about it. Good day gentlemen.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but it was discovered the day man discovered how to fire a projectile from a barrel... Its known as a sabot... Also, we have a section of the forum for ammo ideas, post these ideas there.

I never heard of a sabot. It does not blow a hole in the cup.

I doubt that the day a projectile was first shot that man used a paper cup as wadding. You can't take my good idea away from me.

listen, i really dont wanna start a fight here, im just saying its not your idea... and it doenst have to be a paper cup, it can be a piece of styrofoam (which is commonly used) or any object that fits the barrel, even paper towels work. It is a sabot, regardless. I dont wanna start a fight with you so this will most likely be my last post in this pointless topic. I don't want to force pimpmann to intervene in a pointless fight. Its a sabot, you didnt come up with it, whatever helps you sleep at night, believe what you want.

Sa-bot;

3. A lightweight carrier in which a projectile of a smaller caliber is centered so as to permit firing the projectile within a larger-caliber weapon. The carrier fills the bore of the weapon from which the projectile is fired; it is normally discarded a short distance from the muzzle.

"Dictionary.com"

In terms you can understand, it means a sabot is a lightweight object that fits around or under the projectile to allow it to be fired from a larger bore barrel than the projectile is itself.

For a sabot I like using these caps off of shaving cream bottles in my 2in barrel to shoot golf balls. I just slit them down the sides and then they hold the golf ball in place if you do it right.
But yeah, I've been using sabots for a long time. I'm assuming I'm like most people here and just got the idea from seeing sabots used for ammo in guns.
I will admit though that I never thought of using paper or plastic cups though, so I will have to admit that it is a good idea.

Well Johnny, seeing how we appear to be observing a severe lack of people skills here, and we now know that some even have the capability to cut and paste from Wikipedia, I'll say good find on using the paper cups. Big thing is that you figured it out on your own and inginuity is all that counts when it comes to doing this stuff.

Yeah, I'm sure the chinese ran down to the locall Rite-Aid to grab a pack of Dixie cups after a few test fires of Aunt Dee-Dee's dirty underwear and realized something was wrong. "Ah, daahty undahware not fly soo gewd, what we need is sum-ting diffwint. Gwab me swir-pee while you day-uh.".
Anyway, sure they used them, and the French, as usual, claimed fame for something they didn't even do by naming it a "sabot".

Just think Johnny, you discovered something on your own that probably took a whole bunch of medievel (sp?) cannon specialists quite a bit of brain building to do! You figured out on your own to fulfill an immediate need, while many others just hang around a forum and attempt to copy everyone else's idea. If man had never thought outside the box, we'd still be sending email via smoke signals bragging about how we discovered that a string stretched tight over a bent stick and used to launch a piece of straw could really put a guys eye out!

Jeez guys, does any of you know how to give a compliment?!

Sure, a sabot's been invented. But have you guys ever thought of a cone cup??? No. Truth is, this would probably be a good sabot to shoot water out the barrel with...

Johnny was merely posting about a new kind of sabot, and everybody started whining about how he was trying to re-invent something that's been around for hundreds of years.

Could paper wadding be used to shoot water??? I don't think so. Don't start bitching about milk jug caps either, because those aren't watertight either.

I've been using plasitc tea cups as sabots since day one, that was a little over a year ago now I guess. They work real nice for BB's, and there okay with water. I only use the cup for multi shot ammo, anything else I use a peice of cloth.

Tat is the same thing i use. If you are shooting water then you can just make a big spitbal aout of paper sink it to the bottom of the barrel and pour water, the spitbal should push the water out (only for pneumatics)

You don't need a sabot to shoot water with pneumatic cannons.

Also please read Spell Check for Dummies, your spelling and grammar leaves much to be desired.
