First off id like to say that im new here, second of all ive seen alot of questions posted on were you can purchase barrels and the size so i decided to start this thread.

7/32" aluminum tube works exceptionally well sleeved with 1/2" copper pipe for the "Bull Barrel" look to accommodate .177 BB and pellets (kinda point less because u don't have a rifled barrel) the next question people ask is were to get it and I get all my small tube from a hobby store for trains and stuff these places are great btw they also sell stuff like springs

Medium weight "diablo" shaped pellets will fly straight from a smoothbore barrel by virtue of their hollow tail and forward centre of gravity.

Yes, many Crosman, Daisy, Marksman bb guns can and do shoot pellets as well as bbs.

Come to think of it, as a kid, I never did buy bbs. Smile

are there any bigger diablo pellets? like 10 mm or 12.7 mm ?
I've heard that there are 9mm lead balls for some really powerful airguns but are there any diablo (drag stabilised) pellets ?

You can make drag stabilized slugs any size you want. If you have the tools. Wink

This one is .756". Cool

@ Gippeto I've seen them before... But I still think they are very clean I wouldn't expect something like that from a homemade foundry..

I know I can cast them myslef but I am looking for something premade becasue I am too lazy Smile

BTW
I tried using this http://www.apogeerockets.com/rocksim_demo.asp to see how various shapes of ammo affect stability and drag coef... based on what I learned while using it I believe that your ammo would work better if it had flared base/tail (whatever you call it)
I am not 100% sure if I am right but it seems to me that your pellet either isn't (or shouldn't) be stable at all or its stability sucks

Interesting this thread appeared today.

Just bought a length of 8mm aluminium tubing with a 1mm wall for a chap on UKSGC to use with 6mm airsoft pellets.

@ Poland Spud;

Thanks for the link. I'll be checking it out. Smile

My ammo is based on the proven "foster slug" design. It should be stable enough to work decently. (I hope!)

Store bought foster slug loads are sub-caliber, they tend to (sort of) rattle their way down the barrel.

Still, a decent barrel/load will group around 2"-5" @ 50 yards. (based on research)

A "skirted" pellet would have more drag, so I can believe that it would be a more stable design if done properly.

But if I'm not mistaken, the skirt shape is really intended to allow the pellet to "puff up" to fit the bore, while limiting friction.

I'll have to give this some more thought.
