OK. Heres how it goes. There is this thing. Its called a Sabot round. Sabot is french for shoe. It is a method for a sub-caliber projectile from a large bore gun. Most 'Modern' Armys use them for anti-tank warfare. The whole idea of a extremely high velocity, yet low diameter produces high penetration. You can make them by filling a chunk of PVC the same size as your barrel with foam sealant. Comes in these tall cans with straws for nozzles. it expands and is light weight. Knock out the block and cut it down the center. Then use a dremel or round file to hollow a notch down the flat side. Then the hard part. Carve a cone into one side. Then place a playing dart inside, put the two halves toegether. Push down your barrel and fire. Upon exit, the cone catches air and separates the halves without disrupting the trajectory of the dart. Voila

Yeah, brian is right, thats what I do when I make sabots.
I built a sabot once that was a plastic tube, and I forced a heavy bolt into one end, and i fashioned tin can fins. I never found it |

Make the sabot first, dry it, then carve out a channel for the dart to fit in. Use like a dremel to do it.
Make the solid block first, then cut it down the middle with a aw, then carve out the cone and the channel for dart. |

| Just make the sabot out of polysterene, that squeeky packing foam stuff. You could just take a knife and carve out a sabot in less than a minute. |

| Bondo might have to high a density and continue to fly farther instead of just seperating soon after the round is fired. But, since you have a bunch, why not just experiment a little? Maybe when you mold them you could stick one of those cone shaped paper cups in the bondo to make it catch air easier? |

| Demon, that is a fabulous idea actually. if you wanted a good seal, you would use a hot wire cutter tho, not a knife... |

| I shot two at a cacktus and there is only the very back of the tape visible, the rest completely penatrated. You should try those with no sabot like they are because they work great. |

Remember the pics i posted on the other page? the tape came off as the nail went through the garage door.
I make the foam sabots, just get some foam like out of a box or something, and get some pipe the same size as your barrel and hammer it into the foam block. |
