Who woulda thought ping-pong balls could do so much damage?

Not me, until I decided to fill one with airsoft bb's and fire at a piece of wood (aka. skimboard)

The effect of them hitting it was cool, because not only did it hit hard enough to punch straight through the wood, it exploded upon impact, sending shards of the plastic shell along with dozens of bb's all over the place. The bb's actually continued through and did damage to my backstop!

Wow thats alot of damage to the skim board. How much did the ping-pong ball weigh filled with bbs. And BigGrib he probably used an 1.5" barrel to shoot it as they are a reasonably good fit in them

Maybe its just me but, a ping-pong ball filled with BB's is no longer a ping-pong ball.

this is the concept i was trying to figure out a couple weeks ago, except the forces involved in busting a pingpong ball open without it punching through something makes it unsafe for airsoft

very interesting^^^so put in the simplest terms its kinda of like a shotgun shell for a handgun. Except its really called a frangible bullet. I'm guessing its used on airliners because of its inablility to puncture the aircrafts shell which would depressurize the plane.

It's meant to reduce the dangers of overpenetration, but suffers from greatly reduced lethality as a result. Besides, studies show that the vast majority of bullets fired in law enforcement engagements actually miss their target.

Not surprised, it has been shown that only 2% of combatants in WW2 (on average) were able to hold their stomachs long enough to actually take true aim and shoot the enemy.

If someone was shooting at you, would you (honestly) be able to shoot back?

@PVC Arsenal 17: Mate that is truley nuts! wow
I did the same thing with a tennis ball and got no where nere that type of damage. How did you do it one must ask?

@Novacastrian.

Mate you gt 5 tenths of F@%K all right to say that.

WOW how bloody rude, as a former service man im almost insulted buy that remark. However I do understand that you may be a 10 year old kid sitting at home watching Rambo and actuly thinking you cam hip fire a M60 machine gun. and thinking it must be sooo kewl to be in a war zone.

GROW UP!

Ok rant over..

Jack it's so true about the cops, however it would be a case of not being trained correctly with there sevice firearms and also not enough pratice.
another point would be ability to have a good look and time to fire with acruacy. and when the heats on things get a little blurie and its sometimes very difficult to line up your shot.
It's all good for someone to say yeah im a good shot.....however it was at a range with no stress and all the time in the world.

filling pingpong balls with paint is really good idea I will try that
And if you filled them with metal bbs instead of plastic bbs it would have even more damage potential.
