I am building a piston valve encased in a 1.5" tee. Would a .25" blowgun be enough to vent it or should i buy a .5" ball valve?

Well it would be enough but a ball valve would probably be faster

As Steve said, a blowgun will do it, but the ball valve will exhaust it faster and probably increase power a bit, but I doubt the change would be significant.
Peace,

Thnx. I think i'll just use the blowgun. It's easier to open (the whole gun doesn't move) and I have one.

I think now is a time you should refer to the GGDT and play around with your exhaust.

I already tried that and it said it would work i was just making sure. One more question even though this doesn't really have to do with it:On the back of the tee should i put a normal plug with a short piston or a threaded female adapter and a cleanout plug and a longer piston?

It is unlikley that the blowgun will work. The orfice of them is 1/32-1/16" on the standard ones. Get a 3/8" ball valve. Thay are easy to open and WILL increace power.

#1 If you have the ability to put an o-ring on it I would go with the normal plug with screws. If not go with a female adapter and threaded plug.(or threaded T with plug)
#2 Do not use a cleanout plug, use a pressure rated one. |

No, no, no. IF YOU CAN put on o-rings, go with the normal plug and screws. Otherwise air will leak out the back and through the screw plugs. If you're not you should use a threaded plug.

No, no, no. I'M NOT PUTTING o-rings and im still glueing the plug in, the screws are just for strength so the piston doesn't push the plug out.

Better hope you make it right, I wouldn't want to waste
$3 on a plug
$1.50 on a T
and another $7 if you have threaded bushings cemented in if the piston gets broken or something else goes wrong. |

$1.50 on a T!!!! Yeah right! If you can find a 2.5" or 3" T for $1.50 I'll scream the theme to Barney over the intercom. A 3" T would ring me up about $7-$10.

oh, hay, must have gotten this thread mixed up with another one. that's a good point then. 1 1/2" Tee's are cheap. Sorry for the misconception.
