Hey guys me and my friends have been doing a potato gun show for a couple of months now. I don't know what the rules are on posting links here. Just search on Youtube Spud Destruction and you will find it. We made the show for all potato gun enthusiast. We would love all of your inputs as well and suggestions. I'm new to this site but love all the information thats on. The community on here is great.
Second question on the last episode we used the compound rounds from ultimatespud.com and i wanted to thank them so i put the link to there shop on my page but the website is down. Does anyone know why?
Yes we are really considering for season 2 air powered. Any builds you would recommend. We will end this season in 2 more episodes then begin season two with a stronger gun. Thanks guys..

I like that you have an emphasis on the video side of things. Too bad you aren't a neighbor of a spudfile'er (not that we know of at least) cause most of us could use a funny and or entertaining side to our creations.
I have a pretty big air cannon that I don't use anymore, but it would be perfect for your show if you had a bigger yard.

Not a bad effort, but I concur with the general opinion, you need more power
You might want to consider things like BB machineguns too that will certainly make for awesome footage.

This is why i joined this site you guys are already giving me good advice I talked it over with one of the guys at dinner tonight and we are going to go with pneumatic... We are leaning towards metal piping. For the valve we want something quick, so my brother who used to lower and put air bags on cars can help me with that quick release.. We want to keep it basic but consistant. And yes we live in the city actually i'm in a "ok" part of town hahahah. Meaning the neighbors are used to loud bangs. But i don't want to be over the top loud... Tomorrow when i get off work i will definatley scan through this site for plans on a simple but effective pneumatic guns. Thanks again guys.. And yes McCrowley i just got your youtube message
Maybe it's not pneumatic then when im thinking. Ill do some more research when i get home. I would like to power up between 100 to 120psi or air, in a chamber then just simply quick release that into the barrel to expel the potato or the 2 inch uhwm compound rounds i purchased from ultimatespudgun. something quick simple and effective. Also do i need more psi than 120? What is a nice destructive range when dealing with air?

If you want a high performance big bore without breaking the bank, consider something like this design:
You can make the chamber and barrel out of the same type of tubing, all you need is the chamber capped on one end with a valve of some sort in order to supply the air, and on the other end you attach a union.
All you have to do is sandwich a disk of frangible material (foil etc.) and when a certain pressure is reached in the chamber, BOOM!, Robert's your mother's brother.
It is a bit of a pain in the arse having to install new burst disks for every shot but really this is the only way to get the best performance out of a pneumatic on a very low budget.
At 100-150 psi with a long enough chamber and barrel, performance should be quite impressive.
There are a couple of important considerations when choosing a valve. Granted an air valve from a car lift kit is quick, but they generally suffer from size.
They simply can't dump the high volume of air fast enough. Do they make them in sizes over 1 inch?
Look first into large orifice valves such as large irrigation valves. You want one that can open all the way in under 20 ms. Use a valve at least 3/4 the size of your barrel for best results. In other words a 1/2 inch sprinkler valve on a two inch barrel will eject a spud, but it won't be impressive.
Read the stickies and look in the wiki. Consider building a piston valve if you have the skill.
Testing a 2 inch piston valve against a 1.5 inch sprinkler valve side by side with 3 inch barrels shows a huge power gap between them. Both cannons are about 3 gallon in size.
