| Homemade BP guns can be built safely, but they are still illegal in most cases, and their discussion here is banned. I think you can discuss them on Theopia, but I'm not sure. |

Yeah, did you see junkyard wars with the cannon building families? It's the only episode I didn't actually fall asleep in(or change the channel).
ANyway, I think that we should have BP cannons, but Before posting get permission to do so first. |

I do agree that solid propellants shouldn't be discussed here at all - there's something "clean" and "safe" about using compressed air for launching stuff, to some extent the same applies to combustion cannons. I wouldn't really want to participate in a public forum that discussed explosives because of the associations it would create, particularly in a terror conscious modern society. |

Hey
Yeah i saw it, i hate those 2 fat women, they were so USELESS!!!!!!!!! It was a bad episode.....
But on the topic of BP guns.... I don't think its such a good idea, it can be very very dangerous... Not saying i haven't done it.
In South Africa where i used to live, you could buy the stuff to make it from the chemist over the counter..... So yeah, my dad decided to make some with us (Me around 8 my bro around 6), so he got a copper pipe, stuffed alot of BP in a copper pipe with the end flattened down and a hole drilled for the fuse. Compacted it with tissue and stuffed a rock down. To stop recoil he place a brick on it, we stood away from it and to the side. We light it and BOOM! the cannon was gone, the recoil had sent the pipe flying backwards into a brick pillar and flattened it completely.
EDIT: I agree, it shouldn't be discussed here |

| yeah, It probably shouldn't, as Jack said it would probable attract unwanted attention. I withdraw all my statements. Except my first posts. |

| Probably the only safe way to do it would be become a gunsmith, and there are probably gunsmith forums on the net dedicated to this sort of thing. |

Bah, it's too easy to use solid propellants anyways.
I always liked spudguns because they require a certain amount of engineering and design behind them. Anyone can pour gunpowder down a simple tube and make a cannon...there's just no challenge. |

-Moved to Website Discussion
Discussion of solid propellants is not allowed here because Spud Cannons are in fact totally legal here in the United States. However when you use a solid propellant, you are turning that spud cannon into a destructive device.
Sure you can use steel and literally make yourself a true firearm, however that is...
1 - totally illegal
2 - I don't want illegal firearms being mixed with legal spud cannons, we have to do everything in our power to educate people to keep them safe, so our hobby does not become a crime. |

| Just a bit of information, if something is smoothbore and muzzleloaded (in this case a black powder cannon), its legal as long as its for recreational use in the majority of the US. |

| But that still turns it into a firearm and not a spudgun. |
