I had a question about piston valves... I have seen many piston designs. I have seen ones with an "equalization hole" I guess you could call it... And I've seen some with no hole through the middle of the piston. How would it work if the air couldn't get passed the piston into the chamber??? Also, I am planing on making a piston valve cannon soon and had some construction questions about the piston itself. I'm planing on using a piece of pvc with neoprene washers on both ends. It's going to be an over-under stly gun. The outlet for the barrel will be the top piece of the tee. If I make the piston so the washers are on both sides of the outlet would that work the same as a piston that seals off the chamber?

equalization holes are mainly needed in chamber sealing valves, barrel sealers can work without an equalization hole if the solid piston is a little smaller than the rubber sealing face. i would use a flat endcap instead of pvc and washers, and you wouldnt need neoprene washers on both sides, just on the sealing face
