| I've been hearing alot about QEV's, but I have no idea where to get them. Is it worth it to go out of my way to get these things or should I just stick with modded sprinkler valves and homeade piston valves? Plus, I have no idea what QEV's look like.......... |

I'm UK based and these are the two most common designs I know of:
http://www.airlines-pneumatics.co.uk/webcat/vit.asp?SubCat=85
They are amazingly easy to fix up and great if you know nothing about making a piston valve.
You just screw in fittings to connect them to the rest of your cannon.
They require no modding as sprinkler valves do and have a much better flow for the equivalent size as well as very fast opening times. They are almost always more expensive unless you're getting totally ripped off by the sprinkler valve place. |

| search "913" at mcmaster.com, and they should be at the bottom of the page... by the way, QEV stands for quick exhaust valve |

Yeah, 3/4" sprinkler valves are about 10-15 bucks and 3/4" QEVs are 20 but they are made for high flow and a 3/4" QEV has about the equivalent flow of a 1" sprinkler valve. Look on www.mcmaster.com and in the search bar type in 941 and scroll all the way to the second to bottom of the page. You would want the 90* elbow type.
EDIT: 913 is what I thought too but they moved them so now it's 941 |

| Wow, thanks, I just ordered a QEV and an Overpressure Release Valve from mc.master and im going to use it to make a full-auto, shell fed airsoft shotgun. And by the way, I have most of it finished, all I need to do is integrate the valve system used on someones MMG i saw...... |

| For a hint, go to www.boltsniper.com and look at the FAR. its basically like that, exept instead of it being spring powered, its a blow-foward bolt. its basically a combonation of the FAR and the STD (BS-2). ive tested it connected to a sprinkler valve on one of my small cannons and its freaking amazing. you hear a BAM!, a nerf dart flies out (the primary ammo untill my parents let me buy more airsoft bb's, BBMG's dont go over well with them) and then a shell comes flying out the side. the mechanism works on as little as 40 PSI from an unmodded sprinkler valve, so 40 PSI from a QEV should definely do it. im keeping the pressure that low because the only way to power it right now is this regulated backpack thing i have that i can pump up to 100 PSI, and i cant really get more than 3 shots at anything above 80. so 40 PSI is good..... also, im keeping the ROF down so the gun wont jam. if the QEV lets out air while the bolt is still moving backwards, the shell will either get trapped between the bolt and the ejection port or not eject at all and get stuck sideways inside the reciever. im gonna stop now, this is a huge post. |
