The female part acts like a schrader, the male part is a straight thru pipe.

You can utilize 2 male parts and a ball valve to interconnect an air source...like this...



Much nicer than a tire schrader and air chuck!

On a pneumatic you'd probably end up doing something like this:



Like starman said, they are very useful and can be used pretty much anyway.

Edit: Oh and the ball valve can always be replaced with a check valve instead.
