| People do. It's not rare that someone will use ether, because it's rather powerful. |

I'm currently in the prosess of building a shc80 pvc potato launcher. I'm trying to find the right combustion area to barrle size ratio. also working on a venturi to get a better air fuel mixure. Any suggestions? |

I think I've got a comparable can of "Easy Start" which seems to be mainly ether.
Theres posts about it being used as spudgun propellant and it seems to work fine. |

| Starting fluids are usually a mixture of diethyl ether, a rather large aliphatic alkane such as heptane, and a propellant, usually carbon dioxide from what I have seen. Gunk brand Liquid Fire and Instant Starting fluid both work very well, but I have yet to see a starting fluid with a diethyl ether content of more than 40% (per MSDS). |

| Good to know, I'll try for my application. I'm currenrtly designing a large launcher. I'm thinking about using a fuel injection system off a car. it should give me a good fuel mixture. Basically it involves atomized fuel, that is compressed. Wont be using plastic though, going to go to our machine shop and use the cnc mill. Alos thinking potatos maynot hold up to the pressure, might make wood shells. |

| You need a very small amount of starting fluid. Around 1/2 of a second of spray works well in an average sized cannon. |
