I have been a member of this forum for only a few days, and I have noticed that there are many "higher ranked" (meaning people who have nothing better to do than type post after post in a forum to obtain a high rank) who seem to think very highly of themselves. They even go so far as to insult people who appear to be new because they do not sit at a computer talking instead of actually going out and trying.
Unfortunatly, a few rude people can make a much larger community appear entirely unappeasable. What is very similar to something one of these "high rankers" has done is critisized as against forum rules.
It would seem that the majority of us would be better off simply making the mistakes ourselves than wasting our time here, being told an idea will not work by someone who obviously does not understand the principle behind it.
By the way, a certain launcher which I suggesterd using a toilet bowl cleaner aluminum foil mixed in a bottle works very well, after the insulting comments (the post was also deleted) I went ahead and built it, and it works.
Because of the annoying insults and the bad advice, I have decided to quit this forum. I would like to suggest that in the future, a-holes are in some way reprimended. However, any incendary replies to this will not be seen by me.
Also, if one of the people who this post includes has the power to delete this post (which wouldn't surprise me, corruption often spreads to higher levels) go ahead. Hopefully at least one inteligent person besides me will read it regardless. |

most of the time its because the "mods" get crap everyday and crap and BS from other members who can't be screwed using the search tool or insult them.they need someone to let it all out on all this built up anger  .dont take any notice of it they dont hate you or anything you might of just posted something ridiculous or something stupid im not sure. and i would rather learn from here then make mistakes like buying wrong pipe,loosing performance because of a ball valve etc, you could blow yourself up not knowing that Acetylene and Oxygen in a combustion is a bad mix. |

Although I do agree with you, I think that this is only a small minority, who post more often and in more places than the decent people here. The minority seem to think that since they have already built maybe a few cannons they know everything and so should everyone else, even if they don't.
They post in topics often with quite reasonable questions or ideas, with useless comments like; thats a rubbish idea, that won't work, what a stupid question, you're gonna kill yourself etc.
I have sometimes even seen occasions where they dont even comment on the subject of a post, simply saying your grammar/spelling is awful. Fotuneately this is only a few, and i think that with a little effort from everyone, they can be controlled.
I think one step would be to remove the "Posts:" number everyone has, as this seems to make some people that have a high number think they are therefore better than everyone else. Which is not necessarily true, it can sometimes be as simple as showing how much time someone spends sat at their PC. |

| I posted something just two days ago that, now that I think about it, wasn't the smartest idea ever, but at the time I thought that it might work. People replied to it with such heavy sarcasm and complaints that I myself considered deleting the topic itself. I think things could change also. |

Your post regarding the chemical pressure generation was probably deleated due to it's similarity to the "bottle bombs" expressly forbidden in the rules.
Note that I didn't acctualy get to read the post in question, as the topic was deleated by someone else.
Incidentaly, complaints of "rampant eleatism" noted. I'll see what I can do about it, as it certainly does hinder acctual conversation. |

I think that post is wrong/dumb/poor grammer, someone said something i didn'0t agree with so i'm quiting the site BOO HOO HOO!!! Why don't you post the greatest idea/cannon, make the perfect reply instead of complaining/wineing/crying about it. BOO HOO HOO!!! I agree that sometimes some people are a little rude, but come on...
Five easy rules that if you follow I won't be rude to you.
One: Read the damn rules and follow them.
Two: Don't tell me I'm wrong unless you know what you're talking about.
Three: Don't get an attitude we me.
Four: Learn how to spell or use spell check.
Five: If you don't like people telling you that your idea is dumb then don't ask for there opinion.
If you can't take a little crap you shouldn't use forums. |

Since Im commonly associated with deletion, let me clear it up by saying "I didnt delete your topic". I voiced my opinion of how implausible your idea was. Most of the time the implausible isnt built, since ones laziness becomes altered by the shear amount of 'work' required for a 'brain fart'. Sure the implausible can be built. Yet you have something 'implausible' that you spent time on. AKA worthless.
If indeed this 'cannon' was built, possibly you could post pics?
Your idea got a lot of negativity simply cause its a highly inaccurate way of producing pressure. One of which that has a potential to rupture your cannon. Hence, why CO2, hybrid, and HPA sources are approached with greater caution. You must realize between the 'noobish' paint diagrams, such a inaccurate way of producing pressure, etc gave the appearance of yet another 'brain fart'. Sure, its are fault to jump to conclusion based off others actions, but thats why we do it.
I a person thats lingered on this forum for a long while [2 years or something], will admit I spend a lot more time 'designing' then building. That has its pros and cons. You dont have as many primer stained DWV clutter, but you dont have as many cannons to shoot. Im not sitting on my @ss now. I pretty busy with other stuff, and am 300$ into a cannon that ive surely taken my time on.
Im sorry, but if you cant stand faint insults written in text by people that only know you via your text, your 'poor'. I think any 'noob' that has stuck it out on these forums, can honestly say they LOVE these forums. When I started out, I mostly ignored controversial politics, and would dedicate considerable time towards spudding content. And thats why I think the people that liked me, liked me. This forum is a hell-a lot better when you leaving moderating to the moderators. No, im not wanting to have members of this forums be dogs while I jerk them by the leash, but when I tell someone that there post looks like my alphabet soup, dont get butt hurt over it! Its not your problem, so dont worry about it. |

I am just going to use this as an example but there was and i think he still has something againgst me, a guy on these forums who gave me a ton of sht for no reasons but i realised he was just an insecure bastard on the inside (no not you pimp, you just explained rules to me) now i ignore him and its over. Why did i write this you left the forum? |

Becuase I sure as hell don't, the only time a mod is ever gonna come down on you is if you do something or post something that is explicitly against the rules. And if you don't have half the brain to obey the rules, then you shouldn'teven be on these forums.
My advice, as rna_duelers put it, is just move the fork on. There's no point in arguing over the internet or dwelling on something as stupid as that, and if you do, then you're a moron. Maybe if you don't like it, you should get a life and get off the damn computer?

First off, your statement right there is totally without reason and logc. People such as BLB, Pimpmann and myself (at times) do as much as we can to help out people. But when newbs come here and ask "zomg dis cannon iz da shyt u gotz ne planz??" we go nuts because they do absolutely NO research on their own. We have stuff better to do, our posts come from experience, where we share our knowledge, come back when you've been making cannons for over two years, and then see how much your post count rockets up after you contribute what you know.

Boohoo? You may not like it, but i don't blame people for that. After putting up with the amount of crap we do, it's understandable to see why some of us are assholes at times. (or all the time, like myself)

Once again, boo frickin hoo. We know that that's dangerous, since you can't control the pressure generated. YOu got mad because someone shot you down because of stuff that you didn't know, and you went and made this topic.

What's the matter, you picked up your ball and went home? This just shows who is more intelligent here. YOu don't know how to take criticism, even in it's harsher forms. i've had my fair share of crap throw n at me, but did I let it bother me? NO. It's the internet for chrissakes.
I hope this topic doesn't get deleted, so people can see how whiny and bitchy people can become when their feelings are hurt, exspecially over the internet.
