All I can say is WOW
Is this currently the most powerful (talking about ft/lbs here) pneumatic gun residing on spudfiles? |

Nope. SWAT, and _Fnord's Big Ghetto Pneumatic are both significantly more powerful. As far as power:weight ratio though, I may be leading due to the high pressure and ridiculously fast valve. Built on the same scale as the SWAT, it could propel a 6 pound projectile at 600 fps, far more energy than anything other than, possibly, FEAR. I've already got more than enough power for my rather small backyard. |

You should try to shoot stuff at least 20 to 30 feet away, Minimum......Than see what kind of damage you have..... |

| I don't exactly have 20 - 30' of range in my backyard. And lugging the whole thing down to the range isn't my idea of a good day. I probably will in the spring though. |

Well, I can't get much more than 3000 ft-lbs due to the low pressures and bulk of the thing. If I doubled the barrel length (which I could do, if I really wanted to...) I could be getting between 4000-5000 ft-lbs, but I really don't feel like putting it together again.
But remember, the mauler shot for about 3k, and it was hand-held. I'm still hoping to get a metal version of the mauler built next summer, but I need to get some 3" pipe first. |

| The 3k ft/lbs figure is for a very light projectile. For projectiles of a more useful mass (~2 pounds) in the new 3" bore barrel, with the planned chamber volume upgrade (90 more ci), I will be getting more like 7kft/lbs. I somehow doubt the figures for the Mauler. Even with the heated gases and wide bore barrel, I can't believe that it had the necessary acceleration forces with <kpsi combustion pressures, especially since the SCTBDC uses more pressure than almost all PVC hybrids produce, and needs a 12' barrel to achieve the same thing. |

Nice launcher DYI. The damage done to targets by such kinetic energy values as you are getting should be very impressive. Are you still planning to shoot the house door with a 2lb pykrete slug? |

A house door with a 2lb slug
I hope your talking about a solid door and not a cheap hollow one.
I've got one under my house come to think of it
Very nice launcher, lucky you have room to house one that big. |

| Oh, I'm still planning on shooting the door. As mentioned in the " What would you like to see annihilated" thread, I won't be making the full video until the spring, when the barrel isn't as brittle and my hands aren't as cold. I actually have 2 1kg Pykrete 3" slugs, as well as a 1.5kg slug composed of an old disposable oxygen cylinder filled with ice. |

What the hell? It's like somebody put some instant messenger chat in a blender, then crapped on it and fed it to a shark. |

As VH_man has since typed, that makes sense to me.
But still, come on here, mauritstheman, we've seen you can post decently, what gives here? |
