Since i cant get my hands on any airsoft guns, i've decided to create my own for skirmishes between my friends and i.
This gun is extremely simple, i was just wondering about the approx. power it'll be able to have.
My recent thoughts lead me to using copper as the air chamber. 1/2 inch and 23 inches.
I'll be describing the plan from chamber, to joints, and then to trigger and finally barrel.
The airchamber, as i've stated before, is 1/2 inch and 23 inches. Type L copper, NSF-61. I'll be pressurising this to about 150 PSI. End cap will be drilled to fit a shrader valve which is also epoxy onto a nipple.
Nipple will then be screwed into the copper end cap.
Three 90 elbows will then be EXPOXIED together(end cap will also be epoxied) to reach the blow gun. Last elbow-which links to the blowgun-, will have an end cap on it, which will be drilled to adapt a nipple from the end cap to the blowgun.
Blowgun will act as the trigger-Will be modified later if insignificant power is found-
Blowgun is then linked to a 90 brass elbow (1/4 to 1/4 FEMALExMALE), which is linked to a reducing hex nipple (3/8 to 1/4).
Finally, the barrel is 6mm and will have a union cap w/ seal connecting it to the nipple.
I'll probably be expecting 3-5 shots or even more per charge.
If any improving modifications could be stated, please do
Thanks |

| why not just make a vortex gun and hook a CO2 tank up to it? |

Nahh. I'm not a full auto kind of guy.
By the way, clouds/strafers are noisy, not good for stealth when you're in a ghillie suit.
I'll be sure to use a cloud/strafer when its CQB or any other man made airsoft field. |

That design looks fun, although I am not sure as to what power you will get out of that blowgun. I understand you want more than 1 shot off per fill, but that comes with a significant decrease in power, unless you are using a complex valve system. Other than that, I bet it'll be fun, just don't expect to break any records.
You could replace all those elbows with tubing if you wanted it to be easier to make, although the slight floppiness might be annoying. Have fun! |

I think you'll find that a blowgun will give you a bit too much power for skirmishing. I'd definitely go for a much larger tank, consider even having a backpack even if it's at lower pressure (80-100 psi), and you need an effective means of breech loading because fiddling with a ramrod is not something you want to be caught doing in a skirmish |

My last reply was out of character for my alter-ego(THUNDERLORD)
So I want to give you valuable info about a goody that I used in a launcher that I was waiting to share once I post pics of my recent gun.
Hopefully you will find useful.
If you go in the lamp section at the hardware store they sell threaded pipe for fitting the power cord wire through lamps. It has an OD of 3/8" or about .375" the inside diameter is around .27?.
(someone stole my caliper)
A brass tube from a hobby shop can fit inside it also that has an ID of .25".
There is a standard size hollow steel pipe with OD of .50" and ID of .375 the lamp fitting will slide into. Atleast they sell this one in home depot.
The threads of the lamp thread fit perfectly into a standard blow nozzle.
also 1/2" T copper fittings fit onto the 1/2"OD tube 3/8ID.
using that fitting you can add a magazine to the lamp pipe.
offset the T so you can aim and you should be able to make a simple bolt action for airsoft bb's
the brass tube ID .25 from hobby shop will fit in the brass connector on the other side of the blow nozzle and can be epoxied inside it.
regular lamp fittings such as light sockets, nuts, connectors can be threaded onto this pipe also.
I will hopefully be posting pics to explain once I load photos of my new sprinkler valve creation. If you have question about this type pipe I will try to answer back. Hope this is helpful.
Remember,I would not recomend "skirmishing" due to all the horror stories but wear all proper protection and even then probably something bad will happen. |

I've got a magazine system plan ready to go.
It could be a simple pull back bolt, with a bb popping in from an underside mag.
I'll definately consider the backpack tank.
@THUNDERLORD: I think i know what you're talking about...
An adapter from standard blowgun nozzles to barrel.
I'll have to wait for pictures |

If you're wearing a helmet and a cup, and using guns that shoot under Mach 1, you'll find that you're more likely to be hurt by tripping than you are from being shot during an airsoft war.
When I play airsoft, I carry two guns: a Walmart quality airsoft pistol for close range, and a 1.5" bore QEV gun for farther out, that shoots a hundred or so BBs at 600fps, and whatever other nonlethal things we can jam in the barrel. Makes the game a lot more fun, because when you can hardly even feel when you're hit, you don't exactly have to develop effective tactics. I also sometimes carry a .257" "sniper" weapon that shoots 5 BBs at 900 fps.
The point that all this rambling is coming to: there's no point in building your own airsoft guns if it's no more powerful than the ones everyone else is using. |

Well some people (myself included) just like to build stuff and also like the feeling of shooting something home-made. I own a JG AK-47 B Spetsnaz and a BOYI BIM4 Carbine, but I still insist on making all of these other airsoft guns by myself... It annoys my parents sometimes, but hey, a hobby's a hobby and they'll never stop me!! |

Mmm..true.
I'm not aiming to destroy somebody when i'm playing out in the field.
Just looking for more than "great" power |

I only post guns that have something new, or are impressive. Neither one falls even close to those categories, and are done with simplicity in mind. They make fun plinkers, but not worth cluttering the forum with.
You've seen bits and pieces of them elsewhere here, but they're constantly be scavenged for parts. |
