Alright guys, i know there are a few topics about this on here already but i couldnt find them with the search. So i was thinking about adding a detent into my barrel, and was wondering if my simple idea would work. I plan on using a hack saw and cutting out a slit from the top of my barrel, right against the vortex block, and then sliding an o-ring that is slightly smaller than my barrel into the slit, and then taping it down or some other method of holding it down sot he pressure doesnt push it out.
So i was just wondering if anybody else used this same idea and with what kind of results. thanks. |

That should work and I believe that is the method hub recommends. I used a sheet of rubber around the barrel for mine but I think the biggest factor is what is most convenient for you.

I've used this method before, works pretty well and for spherical projectiles works as hop-up so make sure the slit is on top of the barrel.

i actually lost the o-ring i was going to use but found a spare hup up bucking... so i cut slits with a hacksaw, and then filed them to make all the slits even, i made it slightly smaller than a normal airsoft barrel hopup cut, and it works phenomenally. I then just put a small ziptie around the bucking to push down on the bucking. works flawlessly.

I've done it a bit differently. Drill a hole in the barrel a bit smaller then a BB. Place a BB on the hole. Cover with a fat rubber band held in place with a small spring clamp.
The rubber band provides both the force on the detent mechanism and also seals the detent (more or less) so there isn't a lot of air leakage there. |

I've never really used a detent, but if I did, I would just use a low-force spring ball plunger mounted in the side of the barrel.

yeah, cutting a slit and then using an actuall hop-up bucking works really well, turns out if a just straight up zip-tie the rubber into the slot it needs crazy pressure to shoot, the rate of fire was insane like that though lol, no doubt passed 100 rps. but it wasted a lot of gas, and the chamber actually had to charge before it would shoot. so i ended up using an o-ring to keep pressure on the bucking. works more reliably now.

What about for my bbmg, there is a spot on the barrel a little after the vortex block where I can add a hop up rather easily, so to slow down the rof and raise the fps of the ammo what should I do?

put a hop-up bucking over the barrel and put rubber bands around it so they detent into the barrel, but dont make it to far down. this will raise your rof and fps because higher pressure builds up in the gun.

actually using a rubber band by itself with a slit would probably provide a disposable and simple solution...
