Following on the success of my pneumatic pengun project, here's my latest high pressure mini coaxial
Ok, so it's actually the round for my preloaded pneumatic cartridge project, but since it's a launcher in its own right, I thought it deserved a thread here.
I haven't taken it to full pressure yet, but here's a video at around 150 psi - ammunition is a permanent marker cap. Ok, not that impressive going through cardboard, but considering the "barrel" is less than 1 inch long, I was pretty impressed. And the little blighter is *loud*, sorry the video is without sound by sis has "borrowed" my good camera :-/
in your original design the piston sealed against the "bushing" and here is looks like it is just a small coaxial. which is it?
I scrapped the original design and went for something slightly less efficient but more reliable, this design is effectively a 6mm coaxial - in fact, I though I'd try it with an airsoft BB At 100 psi it went through both sides of the cardboard box and through the card backing.
Technically I *could* use it as a cartridge for a 6mm high velocity airsoft rifle but the whole idea of having to align the barrel with the breech puts me off, before i get a lathe I'd rather have a cartridge made out of the same tubing I'll be using as a barrel.

Do you cut the schrader valve to make it more compact?
Yeah, I cut it with a hacksaw at the point where the valve stem ends.
That thing is awesome man. With a longer barrel and perhaps larger chamber that thing could slice bricks in half (not actually). You must be good with epoxy to make small parts like that. Good work.
This was at around 350 psi, looks like the power potential is there - not to devise a launcher to fire it. On the bright side, if it doesn't eject successfully, I could always build a double barrel sawn-off shotgun
