For an upcoming project I had to make a magazine. The problem I have encountered is with the spring on the magazine. I am trying to get a rectangular spring that is approximately 1/2" x 1" and 12" long. Any advice on how to make or where to buy one? I have considered a constant force spring but it won't work and I would like to avoid just gluing a bunch of hardware store springs together.

Can't you use Two or Three springs spread out? you wouldn't have to glue that many together and can get them online or at hobby shops/hardware.

I would use flat spring steel and fold it in a zigzag. You can get it from Ebay cheep.

I don't think a torsion spring will work for a magazine spring. Do you guys think a replacement spring for a thompson 30 rounder would work?

Perhaps a round spring with a rectangular plate on top?

It is a possibility but, I would need two columns of 4 for it to work and that's a lot of springs. Also in my past experience unsupported round springs cause problems at that great of length. They tend to splay out and cause jams but; it may be my only option.

I found mine looking through the RC toys and hobbies section. If you dig around long enough you can find it. Above is 2 other places I found with a quick ask.com search...

I appreciate the links but, I can't order from the UK one and the other has nothing I can't just get at my hardware store.
