Hi this is just an idea i came up with for a spring powered bb gun i am posting it too see if it could actually work and if so if i need to fix anything.
BTW i cant use any air power. The diagram i provided doesnt actually include the trigger mechanism just the actual firing ANd i also thought of building it into a toy ak-47 thanks

Thats exactly how Air rifles work, you set the spring by breaking the gun in two until it clicks into place. then load the pellet, then close the gun fully, then pull the trigger, the air in front of the spring is at atmospheric pressure, until the trigger is pulled, the spring is released and then the air in front of the spring pressurizes, then forces the pellet down the barrel.

So, its not really a new idea, as its already been done back in the day. but it would still be cool if you made one yourself.

check this site out, it might give you a little help.

You don’t need that little peg on the end of the piston, if anything it’ll decrease performance by not allowing as much air to get in the barrel.

i think he has it kind of wrong here, on his piston he has the peg thing to hit the bb, forcing it out(i think thats what he means)

Spring powered bb guns have plungers the push air out once youve cocked it and shot.

thats what i mean i didnt realise it had anything to do with air compression i thought is was just the force in the spring that shot it out

well there is the piston with the spring, you cock it(compresses spring) and when you shoot the spring pushes the trapped air forward propelling the bb

I believe that is how they work anyway

Yeah Mr.Russ, that’s pretty much how they work.

Good luck to ya, Imperialist1, springers ain’t the easiest thing in the world to make.

Wellllll, if airguns are illegal where you live then maybe you shouldn’t make one…
Instead make an RPG, model rockets are legal in Australia right?

I hope he doesn’t frag himself. If he doesn’t come back, it wasn’t my fault…
