A burst disk is basically just a valve that opens instantly. It doesn't necessarily exert more pressure, it just makes better use of the pressure you have. You can use foil or plastic wrap, just experiment.

you were probably thinking "hygroscopic", which refers to a material that absorbs moisture from the atmosphere - as opposed to what you're doing here, distributing a lot of moisture around the atmosphere hehe
