Yeah, people around me get annoyed when I point out faults or points in movies when they are unrealistic. They say I should just enjoy the movie for what it is. But I can't!! It looks to darned fake!! Its funny how many people grow to believe that cars explode when they fall, or when you shoot the gas tank. Or, like in the Shwartsenegger (sp?) movies when every hing explodes when it crashes. For instance, a truck in True Lies falls of a bridge in the florida keys and automatically explodes when it hits the water! Or people go flying when they get hit with a shotgun. Or, a guy gets hit like 20 times with a bat and keeps getting up. Or, they never run out of ammo. LOL, I can't help myself.

Or like in spaghetti westerns were they put cartridges in cap-and-ball revolvers… and they seem to hold about 10-20 rounds… Rolling Eyes

There would be a fireball, it just wouldn't exist long enough for your brain to perceive anything other than a short flash. Although if the gas that was previously in the tank got ignited when it was mixed in with the air surrounding the blast... There could be an extremely small chance of ending up with a thermobaric explosive type of situation. Or if the mix was rich, a proper Hollywood type fireball.

Well I just Meant the nitro wouldn't have a fireball and I meant if there was one it wouldn't be significant I just didn't write that.

I think the only actually believable gun scene I've ever watched was in "Open Range". One of the main characters shoots a guy point blank through a piece of siding with a shotgun and the fella falls straight back and starts quivering.

Old western TV shows, like Bonanza and Gun Smoke, tend to be pretty realistic.

I know what you're thinking. "Did he fire eighty-six shots or only seventy-five ?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement the continuity guys kind of lost track.

Razz

You don't see many realistic gun fights. Guns have over large magazines, bullets have the wrong "knock-down power", and apparently almost never over penetrate (an exception being the "shoot through the hostage trick", where over-penetration is guaranteed)... amongst a myriad other problems.

Also, people tend to be immediately "eliminated" when shot in Hollywood. In reality, some people fail to notice they've been hit, based on the cocktail of adrenaline and other chemicals swilling around their bodies.
In my opinion, no machine refined by millions of years of evolution will be left completely unable to withstand damage and injury, even from something as vicious as a gun. Of course, hit in the right place, but in a firefight, people are unlikely to display their best marksmanship.

Off topic but..
I'm sorry but thats complete BULLSHIT

You're pulling crap outa your mouth.
Man vs. Wild is a documentry on HOW TO SURVIVE
He never claimed that he'll be out in the wilderness while filming a whole episode
Man vs. Wild shows the audience how to survive if they are put into a situation similar to the t.v. show.

THere.
Just clearing things up.
No offense

That Man Vs. Wild guy needs to grow a brain, who in thier right mind goes into grizzly country or the savanna with out a gun!?
And is he trying to get him self killed, I’ve seen four episodes, and in all but one he ate from a half rotted carcass, the other he ate LIVE fish!

Survivor Man is just as dumb, once again, 99% of the places he’s been I wouldn’t touch without a good rifle and a ‘hawk, but at least he cooks his food.

If you ever get in any of the situations Bear try’s to tell you how to get out of:
One, bring a gun.
Two, bring a hand ax or large knife like Bowie or a Kukri.
Three, cook you food!!!
Four, keep in mind that goal #1 is to survive, goal #2 is get out. (unlike Bear Grills and Les Stroud (hope I spelled the names right) , who make a mad dash for the exit.)

I loved the Rocky Mountains episodes of Man Vs. Wild and Survivor Man, they both tried to make it out as inhabitable and the worst place to ever get lost… of course they’re both foreigners so I can’t expect them to have heard of the Mountain Men… or Injuns… Rolling Eyes

Well I would like to tell you that what I said was not bullshit did you even look at the videos on youtube? One of them bear is travelling down a river he has a life jacket under his shirt that seems a little fake to you doesn't it? Yeah he teaches you how to survive but he lies at the same time about being alone. ALL IN ALL IT IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT EVEN THOUGH IT IS FAKE. And I do think you should bring a gun...

Uses for a good gun:
1, food acquirement (duh)
2, protection from bears, lions, moose, snakes, crocks, etc. (duh)
3, hammer (use the butt to drive tent stakes or to push a ‘hawk through a log to split it)
4, fire starting (take apart a cartridge and use the powder for tinder, do not try and light the fire with the gun, unless you have a flintlock.)
5, signaling
6, walking stick
7, tent pole
8, paddle (for rowing a boat)

Probably more but that’s all I could think of.
Care to tell me one good reason NOT to bring a gun?

Edit:
sorry thought you said "don't think you should bring a gun"... Embarassed
