This pneumatic have 1,5m long 32mm wide barrel. It is pretty destructive at 100 psi.Because of the ball valve, I can't affort to lauch light things.Combustion don't have the presure so unless the barrel is wide. From now I think that the hybrids are the best spudguns. My is good for both light and heavy projectiles.

Oh, my video is SO gonna prove you wrong Laughing

@brumby: I guess that detail slipped my mind. I now realize since the switches are black and so is the handle, and I used a crappy camera with crappy lighting (and they say I'm a photographer... well, I was in a hurry), you can't make them out. There are two microswitches on the handle (the 29mm pipe that comes out to the right side). One is for the laser and the other for ignition.
@Bluerift: thank you and indeed I have. It took like two weeks (not working on it every day, tho') to put everything together and another month to experiment with different ignition systems. Of course, "experiment" means struggling to find a reliable ignition system in my crappy country and with very limited funds.

Ok, I was finally able to make a video. You can find it on the description page (has been updated; also C:B ratios have been corrected - seems I made a mistake the 1st time) or on YouTube directly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L14YDRGGed8

And some damage shots:

1. The aftermath of the documented shot. To the left is the hole, to the right — the projectile (AA battery with TP and tape)

2. Holes in a plank. Both projectiles were deeply embedded, removed before the pic was taken.

Top: shot with a screw, approx. 3mm in diameter, 40mm long, with permanent spud sabot, 30mm long (with 13mm barrel).

Bottom: shot with a nail, approx. 4mm in diameter and 80mm long, stabilized with cardboard fins, shot with discarding spud sabot (with 18mm barrel).

Well, as long as you've kicked up the topic:
I've modified it a bit and I've FINALLY found some Nitrous Oxide so I'll be adding that too.
Turns out any weapon that isn't registered in a (pretty strict) weapons category is illegal over here. So I figured "might as well go all the way" and added a silencer (which is illegal on any civillian gun). It's quite silient now with normal fuel. Haven't added Nitrous yet.

OK, so finally got a hold of a camera. Here are some pics with the upgraded gun:

View from right side: you can notice the silencer and the new target acquiring system, which is a high power illuminator.

Wiew from left side: showing the Nitrous feed system.

Close-up of illuminator and where I replaced the gauge for the Nitrous port.

Trigger assembly, as discussed a few posts above, only now the laser switch controls the illuminator.

Spot from the illuminator at about 2 feet from the wall. At 30 feet, the spot is about one foot in diameter.

Right now I'm too busy to play with guns (could you imagine that?!), so I still haven't developed a proper projectile. I've shot it a couple times recently and the NOS makes the mix easier to get right and certainly makes the combustion more rapid, but there's no whopping increase in power (at least not untill I add too much and it detonates Very Happy ). I'll probably switch to a more powerful fuel when I have the time.

Yes, it works quite well. Not that I had a noise problem anyway but it does look cool, doesn't it? Laughing

Am I the only one who can read previous posts?

In case you missed that again, let me break it down for ya'll:
1. I don't live in the US.
2. Spudguns are illegal over here, and so are silencers, laser targeting systems and any nighttime targeting systems.
3. I've been making solid propellant rifles for more than 5 years now. I know how to be careful, safe etc. No need to worry for me.

Another example of how Americans tend to forget that there's a world beyond that pretty little Ocean.

if you made a cannon that shot as efficent as your mini stuff it would bl0w your mind, i blast spuds through 1/2" plywood dude, D size batteries will dent and sometimes make a tear into the sheet metal of a car door.

I put spuds through 3/4 inch plywood, and 4 sheets of wooden barn siding material.even 2x4's and golfballs through car hoods. both layers, too
