Great stuff!

Since the BBs are constantly being agitated, I don't think jamming would be an issue.

Definitely worth checking out

I remember attaching a gauge to this project, it hovered at around 20 psi from a 110 psi feed.
Again, keep up the good work! |

Ill throw a cone and a detent on tomorrow before I scrap this pill container and start the vortex block, still looking for a solid block of something clear to machine it out of, any ideas? I was thinking a clear epoxy casting then acrylic skirts. Bought pack of clear bic pens for barrels today because I couldnt find any acrylic tubing.

Aw damn.
Nobody on YouTube has high speed video of *good* magic dust, and I know some members here have access to the 'proper' chemicals. I for one would love to see a good video of such posted here. |

@insomniac
heres the acrylic box I made it works out really good, I tapped a hole in the back so I can use a remote release, I should have a long airpowered one coming from ebay soon.
@spudblaster
I just may have some magic dust you make with iodine crystals and a certain household cleaning material, Ill do some filming of, may be a little too fast though. |

It would be great to see some NI3 go off in slow-mo. Should be interesting to see |

jor2daje, to make funnel/cone could you flare the clear pen tubes with hot oil over a metal cone? Alike how the PVC rockets are made. Couldn't use a metal funnel, but I'm sure a metal cone could be found for the job.
edit:
Of course this would make the barrel shorter, so besides coupling the tubes together it might not be much of an option.
Another issue of such a short barrel is your not getting the back pressure you'd find in a typical longer barrel launcher adding variables. So perhaps a way to couple several tubes together? Sure I'm making the ownership of a high speed camera more of a plague... Sorry.

What I meant was that people performing said experiments could leave them on their channel without actually embedding the videos here. I suppose it might be acceptable, depending on the chemical and the purpose it's being used for. Ask PCGUY.

Nice work on the box, looks like it would be perfect for filming stuff like water bombs which tend to spray everywhere. (I always have to just keep my distance and use the zoom).
Funnily enough I also have some elemental iodine for the very same purpose... I asked one of the science teachers at school about how to obtain it, to which he replied 'Ah, you want to make *name of said substance*?' and gave me some. Still haven't gotten around to trying it though, but I'll be sure to get it on high-speed when I do. |

It seems like all port placements have their moments of repeated successful feeding and moments of no successful feeds.
I wonder what the cone and vortex block will do.
I'd also like to see a longer barrel, ridiculously long if you can (over 1 meter) so we can see the effects of a BB being in the barrel (does it choke flow, cause a pressure buildup and prevents other BB's to be sucked in?)
@Cptn_law
Cool.
I like the first orange most. It looks like the pressure wave causes the shell to tear on the sides. |

Wild-card line: Might I suggest Giorgio Moroder - Chase for acquisition of 8:24 of pristine high speed footage?
Proper respect if you know where this theme song comes from, other than Midnight Express of course. |

No, in fact the sinkers do this, it's where they went through. they are really fast, you can see them if you look closely, from right to left.
The exploding orange on a side note...it all appears within one frame at 1200 fps. |

Judging by my bulged copper barrels (about one metre long), it seems that two BBs in a long barrel is possible, certainly with a detent. My guess is that a BB is fired from the breech but airflow is immediately blocked by the next BB, trapping the first one in the barrel until the next one hits it, causing the barrel deformation. |

haha before I made it I did the exact same thing but my science teacher said it was way to unstable and I shouldnt try it, so I used the internet |

Unlikely to happen with a tightbore barrel though - you'll get something like happens with springers, with the air between the two BBs compressing - and obviously, that'll speed up the first, and slow the second.
I'd wager that with a good barrel, it's near impossible to result in such a jam.
Actually, on the note of BBMGs, I keep meaning to finish the "Cyclone" design I came up with a couple of years back. |
