I'm pretty sure Canon doesn't sell HS cameras either. Casio and one other brand that I can't remember are the only makers of low price (under 1000 dollars), as far as I know...

ah, ok then.
I was talking about those big cameras that are above 1000 euro, my dad is interested in buy one and I remember seen one on YouTube that is capable to film in high speed.
But if it has to be myself to pay, I probably will buy a Casio on ebay, just need to find the right one... Here in Portugal they don't sell EX-FH100 or EX-ZR100, damn!

Nikon's mirrorless cameras shoot HS video, but they have small sensors (2.7x crop factor)

320 x 120/1,200 fps.

$900.00.

Well my dad likes good cameras, I will see if I can convince him to buy one of these big Nikons, for the price they should be able to film in high speed.

I don't know if the Nikon's are better or what, like I said before I don't know anything about them except that they do have some high speed cameras.

Ok... 240 fps, big deal Very Happy we've already established that even 1000 fps is mediocre.

I slowed it down to 8000 frames per second and it takes about 3.8 seconds to fully open, which translates as 14 milliseconds.

Off topic and way crazy.. Not your usual high speed video. Blowing up the microwave while still in the kitchen. Popping an overfilled waterbed in the house. These guys are nuts.. Enjoy.

Some high speed footage is to be found here:

I like the one of the dart coming through the back of the dryer in particular; I might do some more tomorrow.

Edit: I was going to shoot it with my piston hybrid but I pussied out. The only place to shoot it is that location by the water you may have seen in some of my recent videos. It's right next to a navy base and gets the odd passer-by so I don't want to be dragging appliances out of the back of my car and shooting them if there's people running/driving around. I'd be worried a golf ball would ricochet and hit me or my car as well; even though that's extremely unlikely.
