The idea is that the force of the impact will push the piston back wich will inject the fluid, do you guys think this will work?

| that will work for sure, but what will you put in the part where the tarnq liquid goes, there are ways of making it but it is fairly diffcult unless you want to make it without knowing the strength of it.

I have my doubts on why this topic was even created, but whatever.
As you well know there needs to be a fairly good way to stablize the dart in flight or it will be better at embeding dart needles rather then 'fluid'. Now im not to knowledgable on these darts since the extent of my knowledge is limited to the ones ive seen on movies, and 'zoo animals gone crazy'. I see a problem of the impact not providing a force prolonged enough to compress the fluid threw the needle, into the 'target'. Sure, theres a lot of force when the projectile hits the target, but the amount of time it occurs over is so little you only inject a droplet. Possibly by weighting the piston housing you could allow momentum to inject a bit more fluid. Remeber these are all speculations as to I was to lazy to 'google' search...
:-p

i think this violates forum rules , not specificly, but the olny reanson you would need a tranq dart, would be to shoot at a person or animal. i think that this is not a tranq dart, but a tool for filling up empty containers from a distance.

The surface area where the needle is has to be huge, otherwise the dart will just continue to go through what you shoot it at.
And yes, as Pimpmann said, you need a way to stabalize it in flight.
We'll leave this topic go, but if there is any discussion of shooting living things, it will be locked/deleted.

who cares, it does the job either way, j/k
i think i have an idea, think of an spray paint can, view my attachment of a pic
anyways the pressure will keep the needle safe for normal handling, with a shrader valve, it can easily be refilled and pressureized

| I think that would work but where would you get the valve like a spray paint can?

| if the needle will have a schrader valve its going to back heavy. once it sticks in whatever your shooting it at (assuming its used for animals or whatever) it would just fall right out. not to mention i think that much air being injected in a living thing (especially the bloodstream) cant be too good for them

"if there is any discussion of shooting living targets"
"Sir, my client pleads innocent; he was mearly transporting the explosives on the plane, and that he had no intention of using them in an act of terrorism."
Oh, yeah, that's going to fly...

i cant believe i cant reply to this anymore...
if a bomb was found on the plane but no means of detonation was found... you cant seriously be called a terrorist, can you?

If you are found with an "unusualy large amount of cash", but no evidence that you've done anything wrong, the cops can't take it, right?
WRONG!
They do it routinely, and ya don't get it back short of filing suit.
Anyway...
Point noted, but declared void.
Just because we arn't discussing narcotics or poisons here, doesn't mean I'd leave it open for discussion.
'tis not like narcotics/poisons are hard to get.
Shite, dude, one can get nearly undetectable poisons from wal*mart. In 40 pound bags.
