| An idea i haven't seen for lubricating a vortex or cloud is to put some powdered graphite in with the bb's. they sell it at hobby shops for lubricating boy scouts pine wood derby car axles. it's a dry powder that is so smooth it works as a lubricant. i suppose it would help prevent wear to the vortex , barrel and chamber and also probably increase velocity a little. you probably wouldn't want to use it indoors. i've heard pencil lead is actually graphite. maybe it could be obtained by grinding up pencil lead very finely? the other idea (rather than make another post), is to incorporate a ball valve on the top of the chamber and use it for loading. that way you can have a smaller firing chamber but when it empties all the bb's open the ball valve between shooting and more bb's will drop in then close the ball valve before firing. someone else probably had this idea but i haven't seen it. |

hmm good idea
I bet there is some of that stuff sitting around my house(I have a lot of random things like this) Ill sprikle a bit in one of my lung powered BBMG(dont have a compressor) and see what happens  |

| the issue is that, being a light powder, it will all fly out of your barrel almost instantly. Graphite is really easy to get (and cheap) so would make a nice lube, but its not really worth the mess it would make, or its minute helping abilities. |

Surely the water vapour in your breath will make the powder all clumpy and horrible?

| Why not use a grease type lubricant (one that will not harm PVC, or whatever the cloud / vortex is made of). It'll do the same thing, in theory, but won't shoot out the barrel like the graphite powder will. |

Whether grease, oil or graphite is used it will eventually come out the barrel.
I was thinking of adding large amounts(in w/BB's) as another method to lube the rapidly moving metal.
If grease was added to the BB's they might clump together and oil is messy.
One main issue is with nicer rifled barrels to cut wear there.
There are several cheaper chinese or a Chech made spring air type rifles that can be ordered for around $30. They have very thick steel barrels that would be great for high pressure use.
BTW I was thinking of using the left over rest of it to attach a blow gun barrel to and a scope to shoot blow-gun darts.
Also when I wrote this post about the use of BV valves to cut chamber size. I was interested to use it on a design using a pull- box like the picture at bottom here:http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/cloud-vortex-component-t14030.htm l
The BV would keep the chamber small.
But I have practicaly scraped the idea of using the pull box.Due to weak metal it's made from.
I will however update that post on simply adding a magazine to the sandblaster nozzle.
