(I don't feel the need to write a whole lot about this one)
I recently decided to rebuild my advanced combustion launcher one more time. I wanted to try some new things, and improve some areas. Among the alterations are;
-Cleaner, simplified barrel support
-Larger 340CI combustion chamber
-Larger 3" nominal diameter elbows to facilitate less flow restriction
-No ugly couplers/adapters to be seen
-Additional handle
-Flat black paint job
-60mm friction fit fan with 18 volt power supply
-Dual spark gaps with electrodes threaded through a double layer of ABS
The unchanged features are as follows;
-7ft long, 1.5" nominal diameter barrel
-Cam-lock breech loading
-Ball valve venting
-Propane meter threaded through a double layer of ABS
I am also missing one vital component of the launcher, it should be easy to spot in the pictures.

It is indeed similar to Pete Zaria's launcher, though I believe his cannon was partially derived from the original version of this one.
That MAPP bottle has been through a large amount of abuse, and the fact that it was laying next to my painting area and was thus subjected to overspray is just another case of bad luck on its part. |

SB15 doesn't believe in pressure guages on meters
I'd give it 5days before Tyler posts a very similar launcher
Nice, clean as usual, good sutff. |

It's visually similar to my design but really not that similar; my chamber was serviceable via 6 large bolts in helical inserts, also utilized the bolts as part of the wiring system to avoid drilling holes in the chamber, and had a 5-gap spark strip. And yes, SP15's design along with Gort's were influences on my design.
The handles are the same design I used., and the general "layout" is the same but that's about as far as the similarities go. SpudBlaster's barrel support is superior to mine, and I might copy it if he doesn't mind...
I also couldn't find cam-locks but wanted to use them, as I mentioned in my thread. Nice job there.
The electronic wiring and gas metering system (do I see a mapp cylinder?) look great too, minus a pressure gauge.
SB15, excellent job Another great advanced combustion.
What did you paint it with? I like the flat black look. I went for glossy but I'm almost regretting it now.
Peace,
Pete Zaria. |

| does mapp have a great range of combustability than propane? I think propane is 2.4% to 9.2% or something, and I have a mini'ish combustion thats kinda finnicky on the ignition front. or at least that is what I think the problem is. In which case, using something with bigger range would help... |

| Love the breech load system. Anything that has a slide-through barrel support and cam-locks is awesome. |

| Hey I'm new to spudfiles and i'm looking for information regarding successful propane cannons. I'm concerned with getting a correct air to fuel mixture with propane. I have bought a lot of the propane metering parts already. Is there a certain length chamber and metering pipe that works very well? I am spending a lot of time and money on this project and I really want this cannon to be successful. Care to share any information or specifications for the metering of propane that have worked well for you?? I would greatly appreciate it. By the way that gun is wicked looking. Nice job! |
