right i understand them alot better now, thanks for explaining.

Hopefully if this valveless idea works it will have the efficiency of a burst disc but without the management and cost issues.

Yep, all my own work Smile The way I see it there are two basic ways of making a valveless launcher, either have a stop that jams the projectile in place until it's ready to fire, like my prototype, or create a configuration where the air pressure exerts no force on the projectile until the latter is moved, as in this patented design:

The unfortunate dilema with these designs however, aside from sealing issues that are hard to circumvent on an amateur level, is that your choise of projectiles is very limited. I think the best compromise is a burst disk, as it offers similar flow and minimal opening time while letting you launch whatever fits in your barrel.

That second design is very ingenious, looks like it could work well, ive now made my shotty, and have had it firing, but it needs a proper trigger still and i am going to make a wooden stock for it.

I will post videos once they have uploaded to youtube.

edit: now have videos, these were all at 50psi so maybe tomorrow ill up it to 110 again.

ok the casing from a board marker makes an excellent shell, it seals at 110psi and can fit alot of bbs or anything else you may want to fire in it, just tested it and the casing hit the wall and shattered into about 20 pieces and scattered about 30 feet aways from the wall it hit, so now im on a search for more board markers
