When people post spudgun videos (or any other for that matter) does it ever bother you when you have to wait 30secs for a 5 sec shot, and you can't skip forward while you're waiting for it to load? Or ever find it irritating when people post 2 30 sec videos of 2 separate shots which could have been made 1 30sec video? Just wondering, since video editing is sooooo simple.

Anyway...

Does anyone know of a good, video editor, preferably open-source which I can use for cutting, reversing and slowing my spudding videos? I am willing to pay for a nice one if someone thinks it's worth it. My windows movie maker won't add a soundtrack to a film without crashing, and can't reverse clips.

Post as many shots as you like, what I'm saying is, dont post them all in separate videos each 30secs long, it's especially painful for people on slow connections, but even for those of us with fast connections it is annoying to have to skip through to find the bit of action Smile

I might have a go with that gold-rated one on the free trial.

Well if your good with paint and windows movie maker it shouldn't be a problem. And yes waiting for a shot is irritating. I can manipulate audio with Audacity which is free. If I need to I can compose my own music with the demo of Noteworthy Composer. Essentially I have everything I need to make a good video with those 4 programs. But paying for programs isw much more convenient because they typically have a better compatibility with other programs.

Uhh... I wouldn't pay such prices for video software unless I plan to make money off of the videos I make. Such programs are unnecessary if you are a good editor. However, they are much more convenient. Also Biopyro, why can't you add music to the video? Do you have Windows Movie Maker?

I do, but it crashes when I try to add a song into a video. I can't update it without getting windows genuine advantage.

Well you seem to be in a misfortunate situation. Old computer? If so then I really have no advice. Media Computers have only really begun to catch on a year or two ago.

Nope, very good computer 3 years old. It doesn't crash as such, it just wont play the video when I add a soundtrack, but it's fine when I take it off again. It also doesn't export any information in the file if I export it with a soundtrack, just a blank file :O

I have the same problem Biopyro, until I *stumbled upon* Sony Vegas.

It's great, best thing ever.

And yes I do find it annoying when people don't bother to edit 30 second videos for one shot, it only takes two seconds to cut it down.

The good thing about video editing programs is that most of them have free trials available on their website so you can try them out and see if you really like them.

Vegas and Premiere Elements are pretty nice and you can get them at fairly affordable prices. I know both of them have free trials (30 days I believe)

This is the only open-source video editor I have heard of, but I don't know if it is any good yet.
