Hi! I was just thinking about making my first vortex bbmg but i dont want to use bondo because its so expensive for one can and i only plan on making like one of these does anyone no what else i could use? I was thinking about useing latex paint any comments about that? Thanks in advance!  |

| Hardwood, aluminium, steel, plastic, anything thats hard, all you need to do is drill 3 holes so you can use very hard materials. |

| You know how if you mix flour and water and make like little clay people then let it dry it becomes hard? Well one day i made a bunch of that stuff and rolled into little .5" balls for my sling shot because it would make some pretty cheap ammo and when it hits stuff it would shatter and look pretty cool but when i shot one at my fence it didnt shatter it just made a loud thud and bounced back without a chip taken off of it so i think that might be pretty good material for a vortex block even though it takes 24 hours to get hard. |

dont forget, one of those 3 is a big hole about 3/4" in diameter, that drill bit for steel is gonna cost a fortune |

| You don't have to use a drill bit. Just get a bi-metal hole saw there like $20. |

| You get build the vortex block out of JB Weld. It comes in large industrial tubes and small tubes. I think it is stronger than bondo but its kinda expensive. |

| They don't make very large tubes (only up to 5oz) of JB Weld and would be more expensive then bondo. Bondo is only like $20-$30 at Wal-Mart. |

Possibly, but I highly, highly doubt it. The BB's inside of a chamber each act like tiny tiny chisels. Im pretty sure they would shatter a flour-water combination. The vortex block has to be very sturdy; bondo ones will fail fairly soon; If you want a lasting on, PVC rod or a stronger material is the way to go (even pvc rod will wear down after thousands of BB's have been run through it) |

(and then after you pay off those bills, take out a second mortgage, etc., you can actually build the cannon)...
I second rmich732's idea. Find a PVC or other plastic rod off McMaster that will work. If you don't want PVC, you can consider acrylic! Clear gun, perhaps? |

| With the flour and water mix i made a chunk of it like 3" x 3" and shot it from like an inch away with my 300fps airsoft pistol (at that range it pirces skin) and it looked like when you shoot a piece of wood from far away with an airsoft gun it just leaves a little dimple. |

| hey i have an idea to improve the life of a bondo vortex block, you make the hole slightly bigger, then you add a "bushing" into it made of a metal with the holes pre drilled |

| Just make one out of anything hard and cheap. Whoever said to use PVC rod, that's a huge waste of money, considering you only need like 1 or 2 inches and you have to buy it in 10 foot lengths. IF your worried about Bondo wearing down, to improve salad's idea, drill a big enough hole in the solid block of bondo, then stick a piece of 3/4" PVC in. |
