The old CRT monitors are still the best in: colours, contrast, viewing angle and response time.
TFT LCD monitors have the advantage in: screen brightness, weight and size, immunity to magnetic interference and power consumption.
However I believe the main issue with LCD's for gaming was the time for the pixels to completely change colour.
If for example you turn round in a game, if the pixels can't change colour fast enough, your character turns round but you see the background fade away instead of sharply changing. |
