Unread postAuthor: tylerthetatertosser » Tue Sep 18, 2007 7:43 pm

I was inpired by spudblasters design of a Handheld launcher, so i converted my old hybridhttp://www.spudfiles.com/forums/tylers-insane-hybrid-video-t9323.html to a handheld rifle, here are some pictures :)

I'd have to say that this design looks even better than SB15's. You two have some REALLY similar launchers though. It seems like almost everything one of you builds, the other has either already built, or builds in a few days. Probably good for perfecting the designs though, having two of each.

Handheld hybrids always end up looking like something straight out of the A-team.

 @ noname.

Is it just me or did you cut your barrel down even more?

I think the 2 bends leading from the propane tank to the steel nipple that is perpendicular to the chamber should be 45* bends. Similar to what I have done with the rubber hose on my hybrid launcher. This would make it look much better.

I like SB15's slightly better, because it's more cleaner looking etc but this is still very nice, I second SB15's comment with the 45* bends.

Ok, for all of those interested, here is a list. The original gun is listed second, the "derivative" is listed first.

Tyler's Paintball gun is a copy of my Paintball gun
Tyler's Advanced combustion launcher is very similar to my Advanced combustion launcher
My Coaxial BB gun is very similar to Tyler's Coaxial BB gun
My Copper Piston gun is very similar to Tyler's Copper Piston gun
Tyler's Original Hybrid design is pretty much the same as my Original Hybrid design
Tyler's Hand held hybrid is pretty much the same as my Hand held hybrid

Ha! I knew it.

So it's like,
"Oh, I made a new gun yesterday."
"Let me come over and see if I like it, then make one for myself."

At least you two know how to shoot each other's guns, in any case.

Yes, we generally base our decisions to build a launcher that has been previously constructed on the performance of the existing version.

For example, I was at Tyler's house just after he had constructed his copper piston gun, and we for some reason decided to shoot a Nerf dart at the box containing the brand new wall surround that Tyler's dad was about to install. I suppose our reasoning was that a Nerf dart could not possibly penetrate a thick cardboard box, and retain enough kinetic energy to do damage to the internal components. However, the dart punched through the box, and blew a nice hole in one of the plastic components. I was very impressed by the power of the launcher, but we were both a little frightened by what would result when the hole was discovered.
