SB15's Hybrid (Now handheld)

Unread postAuthor: SpudBlaster15 » Sun Jul 08, 2007 1:08 am

Here is a video:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bxzDjNzoGfg

Well, I decided to revise my hybrid design slightly. The chamber parts are identical, but the rearmost tee fitting has been rotated 90 degrees to effectively shorten the overall meter length. The barrel has also been extended to 86 inches using a piece of pipe I found at the local dump, and a coupler. I built a housing for my remote ignition system which now incorporates an on/off safety switch, and flyback wire for the ignition leads. I also added 6 warning labels, which are not really visible in the pictures. Let me know what you think.

Today I built a new, much sturdier and better designed base out of 2x4s. I also replaced the ugly hose clamps and zip ties with steel strapping and screws. See for yourself the other alterations.

I decided that steel pipe is strong enough to be used as a handheld hybrid cannon at 4x mixes, so I converted my hybrid into a handheld launcher. It is MUCH better now.

I got the warning label from Tylerthetatertosser when I went to his house to help him get his new hybrid firing, and he had a bunch of warning labels on his gun. Yes, I did use Warninglabelgenerator.com.

I want to get this thing chronographed as soon as possible. GGDT estimates a muzzle velocity of around 1080fps with a 5 gram projectile and a 4x mix.

Yeah but your gun first looked like SB15's gun so infact this gun looks like your gun which looks like his gun. Which makes no sence.

The ignition system uses a Transmitter, receiver, servo, battery, and switch from an R/C vehicle. The servo presses the igniter button when the trigger on the transmitter is pulled from up to 1/4 mile away.

Im just wondering how GGDT could give you a prediction when this is a hybrid gun? I thought that GGDT was only for pneumatic guns.

Estimated non-adiabatic pressure of 270psi, and gas temperature of 4200F. It's not entirely accurate, but fairly close.
