Hi. wondering if this design would work. Little hybrid

Post questions and info about hybrid (compressed gas with fuel) powered cannons here. This includes discussion about fuels, ratios, ignition systems, build types, safety, and anything else relevant.

You would do well to take our counsel on this subject. There's no reason to be defensive. You're new here and haven't gotten off to a very good start. I suggest you tone down the attitude.

How about a simple drawing to illustrate your idea?

Diagram with a key would be nice. Color coordination so on. Thanks in advance.

MS Paint is usually adequate.

Actually a 2x hybrid would air up to 14.7 psi (over atmospheric) + some fuel pressure, 1.2 psi or so.

I'm with Frank, the OP makes very little sense.

You don't need a "minifan", a 3" chamber is more than big enough for a "personal fan" or a cpu fan.

You don't need a fan to suck more fuel into the chamber. You just inject (or spray) excess fuel, the fan has little to do with the measurement of the fuel.

A "spray-n-pray" hybrid is a goofy idea. Spend the extra $3 and meter the fuel correctly. (Actually, don't do that, at least with crappy fuel measurement you are less likely to hurt yourself.)

The proposed chamber size is not "small" by any stretch of the imagination. At the proposed 1.7x hybrid with a chamber this size, you are talking about a heck of a lot of energy. Not "toy" energy like a BB or Airsoft gun, modern rifle type energy. In other words, potentially lethal energies, both in the projectile and in the chamber if it fails.

The tape at the end of the barrel makes no sense at all. Do you mean tape at the breech end of a removable barrel? (A burst disk)

Ok guys Im sorry. I dont know what this burst disck thing is or any of that valve stuff. The tape is the projectile. All I wanted to do was run enough air so that the tape doesnt come out and have a hybrid that is very very simple. Never mind any of this at all. Ill restart.

I want to make a smaller hybrid that can break the sound barrier. Hopefully ( if possible ) 1000 fps.

What are the marterials I will need to build a propane injected hyrbrid gun. What are the prices ?. please explain some of the valve things

First off not knowing what a burst disk is just a hint that your taking on to much. Tape+ hybrid just sounds like a horrible idea... With your knowledge/posts I don't think you'll be capable of constructing something of the caliber you want. Please research around the forums and just online to learn about stuff. Honestly research then make an advanced combustion cannon then make an advanced pneumatic and then work into a hybrid. I'm glad your thinking big but your trying to take to much on for your first cannon. I'd be all for it if you had some research and knowledge but your asking us to give you everything.

That would be good advice if the OP actually made any sense.

I think this is the 2nd time you've made a comment at me for absolutely no reason. I'm just letting him know SCH 40 and HYBRID don't go well together. Relax.
That wasn't directed towards you....

guys I have made 3 full sized potato cannons that used fans, had lasers, and tons of mini potato guns. I have not made a pneumatic. I have a neighbor that knows how to build hybrids I just want to know how much the prices are and what a burst disk is.

Thanks

If your asking about parts for a metered propane system then I have a strong feeling the 3 "full sized" cannons are very basic. Sure having a fan is def. a step beyond just spray and pray but barely.
I still suggest you make another combustion but go all out. Make a replica of this

I still think your trying to take on to much. Just because your neighbor knows what he's doing doesn't mean you do. If you don't want a metered propane such as that start with a sprinkler pneumatic cannon and work towards a piston valve. And please work with the search button and try to look at what a burst disk is or just Google it. We are here to help you not spoon feed/ do it all for you.

Its actually more around 1116 FPS not 1000. Well at least it is at about 47 feet above sea level with apprx. 40% humidity.

Thats pretty cool jmeyer I just need to know How much the VAVLES ARE !!!!!! Lol Just kidding but I think I will build that before a hybrid. How many more feet per second do you think that shoots more than a aersol cannon ?

It depends on the type of metering you have for the mapp or propane. Also in his case he just sprays a ton of it in there and then pressurizes it until it fires.

What I don't understand is that if his friends knows about hybrids then why can't he look at his cannon and the burst disk ?
