haha, first i need a shock pump :P :P. but thats a good idea, i was reading an article before about hydro testing. that sounds like a good way of testing if it will blow up the first time i use it... as i would rather be covered with water than with my own blood

haha the info found me :P

Multiply your chamber volume by 4.2% and fill your syringe to this volume with propane.

take the spray cap off of an aerosol can and attach it to the fill stem of a can of lighter butane.

that sounds like a super easy way of filling a gun.

yeah, you get stuff heaps cheap over there... Well shipping is cheap ... When i was looking at getting a battery for my drill, 2/3 of them were comming from vic :p

I live in ACT, i can get a shock pump for not too much more, i just didnt rly need one before now, i have a compressor which gets ah high as i needed it to go, and its not hard getting 100psi with 2 buck bike pump. I will look into getting a pump

I may not respond for a little while, all this school work has rly built up and im a little strapped for time... Also i planning on building this in 6 weeks time.

So i was brain storming today on ways to have a quick connect barrel, i came up with this:

Image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

(Autocad 2011, dont like how the BG is white now :( )

so i have this pvc (i think its pvc, its gray and i have about 12 meters of it hat my house), it telescopes very well with i think 15mm ally tube.

What i was thinking, if i placed the burst disk in front of the barrel and simply slid it in. Also i was thinking of changing my design to a single barrel, ill try 2 + barrel later, and i was going to have the barrel attached to a leaver action type thingo. so when you reload, push the leaver forward (as you would in a leaver action) place ammo and disk, close leaver (as you would in a leaver action) fill with fuel and air, charge, shoot.... or at least thats the plan :D

Also, i may end up using clear sticky tape as it wont fall off as the barrel is closing. or masking tape.... some kind of tape.

So what do you think? will this work or will i need to make it all out of metal??

P.S Will draw up details of the leaver in a few days

I'm not sure if they have this where you live, but have you looked for alluminum foil tape? It's a great and reliable burst disc material it is very convenient also because it comes as a roll.[/img]

Your burst disc setup wont work. I'm working on a small hybrid myself and you have to make sure you get a good seal, or else all the air in your hybrid will go bye bye.

The simplest think to use would be a union, not very good lucking but its simple, cheap and convenient. On my hybrid I used flare fittings which work pretty well. Or if your going with low mixes you could try the cam lock setup but I heard (might not be correct) that they tend to fail at higher mixes.

Also an epoxy plug works great as it allows you to have both fuel and ignition combined in a small package. If you're gonna use epoxy for the plug then be sure to get some low viscosity type from ebay. Also make sure you space out your quick disconnect or schrader from your ignition electrodes.

Def. Make it all out of metal PVC in a hybrid just dosen't go well. You can get some cheap SCH 80 or SCH 40 galvanized pipe which can handle hybrid pressures safely. Also I would advise in using something like copper as a barrel, its straight and cheap.

I agree with boom it needs a very strong compression to seal. If you you don't like how a store bought union fits with the design you could make a streamlined one with low-viscosity epoxy and a cap.

Note, if you do decide to make your own plug for some reason (your just overcomplicating yourself) you are probably gonna need an oring or two to get the seal on the burst disc.

Foil tape... seems like a good idea... and it has worked for a few people. I will look into that.

Ok, so idea 2, and it has turned into a rifle.... like everything else i have made (i kinda wanted to go small this time, but i dont know if that will work)

So, after the chamber there is a point in the stock which is cut off and reconnected with a hinge. this will allow greater access to the barrel, and means i can have the barrel closer to the chamber.

The rest explains its self.

I doubt you will get enough force to seal and still be reasonable for changing disks. Especially if you are going with the homemade approach.

Ok, well i will have to keep thinking i think that will work up to 2x mix; but if i was making a rifle, which is alot bigger then a handgun, i would probably try go up to 6-7x.
