paintball barrel size

Unread postAuthor: beans » Thu May 14, 2009 2:53 am

I made my cannon with a removable barrel for just this situation. I want to start shooting paintballs, but I have no idea how big they are and what size piping I should use. I'm cheap as hell so before I hit the stores I want to work a budget out...help please?

paintballs are .68 caliber, which is a good fit for 1/2" pipe (0.5" SDR 13.5)

I use 3/4 inch CPVC pipe... And it fits very well( i shoot paintball at maximal velocity with 20 psi, a sprinkler valve and no wadding )

quick questions, how well will a 1/2 copper barrel work? I'll use PVC if I have to, but my cannon is all copper right now and I'd like to keep it that way. And if 1/2 copper works, how can I fashion a breech loader for it? I don't have fancy tools and machines, so the simpler the better.

I can't find the exact diameter now, but I would guess they aren;t going to be such a good fit.

For the breech, you can cut a hole in the pipe and slide a slip coupling over it for the most basic way. Search the displays for ideas.

would I have to put something to make it snug or would just having it covering the hole suffice? I think I might just buy some paintballs and take one to the hardware store and do a fit.

Good idea doing the fit. That always works well for me :) O-rings would help, but aren't necessary, depends how advanced you want it. Type breech in the search and have a look at ideas!!
