I play SEMI PRO in the NPPL, so basically make sure you get into tourny type of play, like the airball, speedball, or hyperball kindd of fields. Move untill someone on the other team is on one of the sides of you, shoot crossfield. This is the best why to WIN!!!! (very, very, very simplifide)

Learn to snapshot quick, and tight, supermanslide is good :)

Well, if you do end up playing some other time, expect to be shot 3-5 times at close range, reload when you have no less that 20 balls (if the other guy hears you reloading, they usually charge you thinking you empty but you will have around 20 balls waiting for him (don't put them all into him though, just enough to get him out)), don't be in a group, spread out, have a teammate around so if one of you is pinned down, the other can flank in attempt to reverse the situation, call out enemy positions, don't stay in one place for too long (you could be flanked), know the field, and know where you team is on the field (its not too smart to ambush your own team  )

Well, advice varies really. Depends on what kind of paintball you want to play.

what team do you play for?

His advice is good. Dont try to be rambo. Be conscious of your profile in your bunker. shoot from the sides of bunkers, try not to shoot over them.

See, if you play woods like a real man, then none of this stuff applies to you.

Play stock class. Those "electro" boys have no clue what real paintball is.
I've played against plenty of NPPL level players. Sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. But either way a pump player is always respected. When you learn how to win against players shooting 20 sum-odd balls per second all the while carrying 50 rds. on your person. Then you know how the game is played.

No offense CannonCreator, but the NPPL has lost its way in recent years.I love the sport as much as the next guy.But somewhere along the line, things got centered on the gun not the player. No amount of firepower can rival a man who knows how to win without the firepower to back him up.That is the reason I fell away from the tournament scene. When the switch went from cockers and mags to timmy's and DM-whatevers.That's when the game quit being about skill.I'm proud to say I play woodsball, pump, and scenario. There isn't the attitude and wiping that has become oh so indicative of the speedball crowd.

But so far as advice goes, get an entry level gun and master it.Get the basics down flat.when you are able to reload, aim, and fire all by reflex then you can worry about a better setup. So many times people buy a tippman then complain because some ten year old has a brand new $1500 gun.A paintgun is a paintgun. It all rests on the hands of the user.

Tactics are common sense, don't lose your head, keep your eye on your ammo(count shots),think tactically. What are the firing lanes if I run up to that tree or bunker?where am I exposed?can I get back doored?and what happens if 5 other kids all huddle into the same bunker as me? All this will happen in matter of seconds when out on the field.

I've played paintball a few times and I am no expert, but try not to retreat, when I played one time, I retreated and a teammate shot me 11 times (he was a triggerhappy girlie player with a full auto gun).

He probably though you were the enemy rushing him. If you do retreat, do so facing your enemy and occaisionally firing to keep there heads down so they won't shoot at you and your teammates will have a better chance of knowing your on their team.

Yes there are plenty of exceptions(some of the guys on my scenario team play with elecro's).But, that comment was a bit of me getting the anger off my chest.I've ran into a bad run of POed speedball players lately. No personal dis meant.
It is just a pet peave of mine to shoot a guy fair and square then watch him wipe it because it was only one "lucky shot".

And PBNation isn't good marker of the sport in general.Warpig and PBJunkie are much better.
