yes, actually i finish my poly carb version two days ago, and it rocks. im getting 3'-3.5' feet of air. Its a 3-1 compression ratio, 2.5'' cylinder. ill try to get some pictures and videos up soon. Im a short guy, I've never been able to jump and touch the basket ball hoop, but this morning while bouncing around in the gym i easily grabbed and hung on the rim while still holding the stick with my other hand. Almost all my friends have tried it, at least my smaller friends, 130-180lbs. we were doing no-handers, no-footer, bar spins and tucks. it so much fun.

ok, here are some pics. questions are welcome.

the three inch diameter on the real thing gives the piston much more downward force at any given psi compared to these homemade ones.

kind of like trying to block, say, 40 psi of air from coming out of a 1/2 inch opening with your finger, or out of a 2 inch opening with your hand. you might be able to hold back the pressure /w/ the smaller opening, but you have no chance with the larger. (which equates to more force at the same pressure for the larger opening)

kudos, you two!

well done.

EDIT:

oops, I should have read the last two pages!

that polycarbonate version looks excellent, very professional. let's see some vids!

those look like some strong footpegs.

ahh, so you decided to do a 2.5" compression chamber, i decided to make a 3" one out of just pvc. btw, how much did that one cost you total??

the grand total, ended up around $115. I would defiantly suggest using polycarbonate. the shock resistance is a huge asset. plus 3'' pipe is not as highly pressure rated and it is sensitive to temperature (which is important up here in WA).

Wouldn't it stink to be just bouncing arouund in the cold and then have your whole compression chamber just shatter on you?

For some reason i thought you would be getting higher than that. How much do you weigh?

wow, 115$ eh?? that is actually quite alot compared to mine.. mine cost about 60$ with 17 feet of extra pipe =P

yes, 3" pvc is rated to 260psi, which i mean is low compared to the "rating/approx" of the poly carb, but i mean a pogo stick really wont generate that much pretture even if you have a high ratio. i use mine at 30-40psi precomp and i can get about 3/4 way down, i only weigh about 130.

yes washington gets cold, but does the poly carb really not get brittle in the cold?? one thing i've noticed with all my pogo sticks that i've built, is that the movement of the piston really generates alot of heat. the compression chamber is always warm. . have you noticed that??

EDIT:

btw, i really like your foot petals, i think im going to have to steal that idea. any ideas on how the vurtego petals are fitted? because i've tried a lot of meathods, but only one has stood up to the test

yeah my all pvc one cost around $15. On the new one I bought that solid pvc rod for a sturdy anchor for my handle bars and medium-soft 2''OD 1''ID rubber tube, which is a very effective shock absorber. I bought my 3' of poly carb at $12 a foot, threaded brass fill valves and countless bolts. I was looking for safety, strength, reliability, and performance. Yeah there was a lot of time spent on the petals. its pvc sheet i made from 1.5'' pipe. I don't think im going any bigger. i have a promising track season coming up and i don't want to fall 7' off a pogo stick and break my self
