I love seeing home made paintball shooters. The problem is this: Although it is fine for a renegade field (is that the term?), it probably won't be accepted on a normal playing field (which may not be a problem for you).

What do you mean? Not accepted as safe for use, or not accepted because it will pwn the competition? It will be semi-auto/auto, CO2 regulated, gauged, relief-valved, hop-uped, and 250-320 fps (for field use). This conforms to most feild regulations. The piping won't be exposed, as it be covered with an aluminum sheet shell, hopefully achiving the look of an upgraded, aftermarket marker.

I can give you a link to a HUGE PB database to find one. Its a site where poeple from all over buy/sell/trade pb items. But you should be able to find one used from 10-80$. I think I have a cheap, old reg I can send you for cheap. Its off a spyder but shall do the job.
If you wanted to get GOOD reg, look into CP (custom products...thats the company) reg, or a Dye Hyper2 reg (can be found used for $40-50 and vleocity will be +/-2fps).
The site is www.pbnation.com. I have the same name on there as I do here. Can you say over 6,500posts?

hailfire, you wont be able to take a homade gun to a feild unless its a mortor or a LAW. its too much of a liability to the feild.

Sweet, octane, thanks for the links and information!

Dippydodo, they WILL let me use it. If 20-30 psi = 300 fps, then how fast will 800 psi make it go? I'll have to use steel and a modded QEV for that, though. Seriously though, if I make it look like a paintball gun, they won't care. With guns like the uber-customizable X7, how should they know If its homemade? It will have gillie-fabric all over it anyways.

Btw, who did you hear that from?

As long as you can keep it under/around 300fps it should be fine. Plus at fields you sign a waiver regarding gun issues and safety.

@Hailfire753, it is an insurance issue, you may find a field that will let you use it , when you go to a scenario game you are given a plastic ID card . this is the badge on which the referee at the chronograph will punch that your marker(s) has been cleared for play. this is what the rules say , maybe it will help you understand.

CHRONOGRAPHS AND MARKER SPEEDS:

Vary from game to game and field to field. Generally they are 260 - 280 feet per second during daytime play, and 230 - 250 feet per second during nighttime play. All markers must be chronographed and your ID Badge chrono-punched by an event referee prior to entering the field of play at game-on, dinner break (nighttime speeds), and game-on Sunday. Referees with hand-held chronographs may spot check your marker on the field. Markers that are shooting "hot" are a serious safety hazard and will not be tolerated. Repeated chronograph offenses will result in ejection from the event.

MARKERS:

Sixty-eight .68 caliber markers meeting game management specifications. Due to safety factors and insurance regulations, game management reserves the right to disallow the use of any paintball marker or paintball launching system. All paint markers must be fired through a radar chronograph. Maximum velocity is not to exceed two hundred-eighty (280) feet per second (FPS) daytime limit and two hundred-fifty (250) FPS night time limit. Any markers that can be adjusted without tools need a velocity lock-down or "tourney-cap." Full-auto paintball markers (including zip and burst) are allowed during DAY PLAY ONLY (FULL AUTO IS DEPENDENT ON CURRENT FIELD INSURANCE POLICY) provided they meet our safety requirements (max Rate Of Fire is 11 Balls Per Second) and the player understands the concept of "Overshooting," and the possible consequences overshooting entails. Be responsible! Don't overshoot! All markers must be in SEMI- AUTO mode only at NIGHT.
