PCP air rifles

Unread postAuthor: roughboy » Fri Feb 15, 2008 2:05 pm

Hey guys wassup!! I'm planning on buying a PCP rifle but is must be .22cal. so far i've searched and searched and searched the web and the strongest i've found is the airforce condor and the new career lll 707 both rifles is 1250fps .22cal. so Can anyone tell me what other PCP rifles out there that i have might missed thats 1250fps or higher and must be .22cal.
because if theres no other PCP rifle stronger than these two then i'm gonna have to pick the best out of this two the condor or the career lll 707.

thank youssss!

Try something by FX Airguns or Theoben, you can easily have them upgraded to FAC.

JSR knows a lot about airguns, he'll be able to tell you all the information you need.

It's hard to soar with eagles when you're working with turkeys.

... and here he is :D

They might be the fastest, but not necessarily the strongest. Gun dealers know that velocity sells, so they like to quote feet per second, not foot pounds. You can't quote power by giving a velocity and not the projectile weight.

For some genuinely "strong" rifles, have a look here - you can get rifles like this for the same price with more power than a 9mm handgun.

Personally, I wouldn't go for this option though, as the power will limit the places you'll be able to shoot, plus it will guzzle air like an overweight cyclist on an vertical slope with a 50 mph headwind. Besides, you wanted 0.22, and these are a little bigger than that

Between the Career and the Condor, I would definitely choose the latter. The Career is aesthetically a horrible hybrid of lever action western gun with an over-under shotgun with a scope mounted on top, and is about as attractive as a hat full of monkey's arses. Also, the Condor has a super-efficient inline valving system that is much more economical with air, meaning it will give you more shots per fill and is quieter as well. This is in important point, a high-powered Career is louder than a rimfire and hardly "discreet"

That's my 2 euro cents ;)

0.0293569 USD, now is a *great* time to buy stuff from the US - pity they have such restrictions on a lot of interesting equipment, but at least I got my chrony :)

Unfortunately it's bad news for my salary though, in the industry I work in sales are in dollars while most expenses are in euros, it hits the profit margins significantly.

JSR, is it true that normal diablo air gun pellets become unstable in flight at velocities greater than 800 fps? I think I read that somewhere.

I use diablo shaped JSB Exacts at 900 feet per second with great results, it's towards supersonic velocity that pellets tend to become unstable. Ideally in that case it's best to use heavier pellets and keep velocities below 1100 fps.
