What about a zeppelin? Zombies can't fly, and you only need to drop down every now and then to stock up food and water.

That's not a bad idea.
I was thinking though, wouldn't commandeering a nuclear powered US aircraft carrier be better then a zeppelin. 25+ year operating ability, unlimited fresh water. Plenty of weapons, and you could carry thousands of survivors (though you probably wouldn't want too), and have plenty of medical facilities, sleeping facilities, and eating facilities. You would also had plenty of space to store supplies.

Just a thought.

The 28 Days/Weeks Later zombies are kind've smart and they're pretty quick, not slow.

A Nimitz class carrier would be great, the problem is actually operating a machine like that. It requires a huge, and relatively well trained crew to run anything powered by a nuclear reactor.

Of course, the most entertaining way to go about this would be trying to completely barricade a port city with a few thousand people, holding it as long as you could, and then retreating to the sea when/if you were overcome to have fun taking potshots at them until they all starved to death. It wouldn't be very safe though, because a single breach of the perimeter in the first stage could easily result in total annihilation.

The 28 Weeks Later zombies are probably smart enough, but they're only human, and they're nowhere near as fast as some of the creatures from Resident Evil.

I think we need to establish how long these zombies can live without fresh victims around. An exact copy of the "28 Weeks Later" scenario wouldn't be challenging enough in my opinion - most of them would starve before they could even reach wherever you chose to hide out.

So, lets say they can survive for 6 months, on average, after the extinction of their food. They can only infect mammals, and a human version has an IQ of 1/3 what it was before infection, can run 20km/h for very extended periods of time, and can only transmit infection through saliva or blood (i.e. biting you or bleeding on you). An infected human takes about 4 hours to convert to the aggressive stage, with symptoms appearing 1 hour after infection. The infection started when Ragnarok delivered a truckload of Pepsi laced with the agent to Heathrow airport, and rapidly spread to most of the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and northern Africa. News of the outbreak took about 30 hours to become coherent, after the widespread destruction of NYC's populace, by which point the virus had already gained a foothold in every major city of the world.

Sound good?

I am Legend zombies do count! How do they not count, they fit all the main criteria for zombie movies.
1) some sort of disease. check
2) Insane mindless zombies, sort of, but they maintain some intelligence
3) fighting survivors
4) huge epidemic conquers most of population

You are WRONG!

The best place to build a fortress of some kind would be antarctica or madagascar, japan, Philippines! Our ubber military would stop the zombies with the awesome Filipino martial art!

Plus their would have to be strategic destruction of certain land masses, such as the Istanbul area, panama canal, areas that form natural bridges.
Man made bodies of water could be made strategically for fortresses.

MrC. is almost (if not) never wrong!

Oh yeah, some type of logic strategy would probably work since the "undead" zombie would probably not be very good at recognising patterns. Like mine fields only something like a predictable (to humans) patterns would be usefull IMO.

For example, if everything was destroyed every so often humans would notice the pattern whereas zombies would not.

Darwin in action KEWL!!! Bring on the zombie virus!

BTW can I get in trouble for trolling on youtube ? (what will they do?)

EDIT: Also I found the NUKE ideas funny because the EMP's produced would be very counter productive to any combustion engine get-aways!

Very true, It would be nice if it could be acquired with the crew intact, no easy feat though.

Of course, the most entertaining way to go about this would be trying to completely barricade a port city with a few thousand people, holding it as long as you could, and then retreating to the sea when/if you were overcome to have fun taking potshots at them until they all starved to death. I wrote a story for a creative writing paper (20+ pages) for English that was based on this exact plot a while back. It was set in San Fransisco and the wall was built from old shipping containers and railroad rails driven into the ground for reinforcement.
Everything in it was plausible and based upon maps and my visit to San Fransisco (which was what gave me the idea to began with).

It's entirely possible to start an older diesel engine without any electrics at all - no starter motor or heaters (and remember, diesel engines don't have spark plugs).
Modern designs are usually more dependent on their electrics, although it would be possible to start a manual diesel without any power at all, of course assuming you can get through all the modern anti-theft locks that normally need power to disengage.

Of course, a normal petrol engine would be totally shafted by lack of electrics.

Correction, there is no such thing as I AM LEGEND zombies.
There is not one zombie in that movie.
They are more like vampires, and in the book, thats what they were more like.

Guess I'll have to come ashore only in a ...diesel mercedes when I visit from the cruise ship full of mostly just the hot female passengers.
If the zombie dukie hits the fan of course...Any Idea when that might happen? :P 8)

Ok, So I haven't posted a single thing in this thread (that I can remember) but I believe that I have found the solution. Lock yourself in a building that has larda's new 200x Hybrid. You could protect yourself mighty well with that thing. Imagine shooting a couple hundred steel BBs out of that with a high mix? I think that would do it for me. Maximum amount of zombies killed. The BB's would spread, and go through several of them prolly aswell.

For this one I'd have to say at our farm. I can then go in the lake with a spud gun and shoot them. (I don't think they like water) Then I could ride around my dirtbike with my pistol combustion.

Although it's powerful, it's rate of fire is going to be very low, which is going to limit it's effectiveness.
I'd sooner have a smaller (preferably man portable) semi-auto pneumatic, even if it was less powerful.
