Yes there is actually a fairly high risk. You need to use something like a hot plate, not an open flame, and be VERY VERY careful about it. Do it outside, away from anything that can burn, and try to use a long spoon and maybe some potholders.

Also be careful when you use it. I don't know if you watched my video on bcvids but our endcap blew off like a bullet. A few weeks ago a 2lb mix in a thin metal container was blown apart and flew up my hill like a rocket. This mix burns very hot, be careful.

Well some people do actually use this mixture for a rocket propellant in High Power Rocketry... check these links out, might even interest some of you in this area...

I made rocket fuel from the recipe for Rcandy of james yawn's website and it works great. If you follow the directions on the website it works perfectly. I made a bunch of bottle rockets and they went atleast 200 feet high.

Cool! I want so bad to do that! About 3 months ago I tried to convince my parents to let me make Rcandy, but they wouldn't!!! Now i got busted at school, and i'll never be able to do something like that. At least not for a year lol......

But,, as I suggested before, you should experiment with ping-pong balls. You should be able to cut them up into tini pieces, then mix with elmers glue and put in a tube. But only use just enough glue to bond it, or you will make an inert piece of crap. Or, you could just line a whole bunch of them of up on a long sheet of tin-foil, then roll it all up, twist the bottom end together, and bunch up the end you will light into the form of a nozzle.
Heat up the pingpong ball at the top until is starts smoking, then viola' there you go.

You can buy hundreds of pingpong balls on ebay for like 30bucks, and each one makes a thick, inpenetrable cloud about 12' by 12'

I haven't experimented with using a fuse to light it, but i would probably work.

you know what else is sweet, take Styrofoam and dissolve it in gasoline, then put the slop on a sheet of metal (so you don't catch anything on fire), and light it on fire. It burns not fast and big, but slowly, and with a medium sized flame. DO NOT stomp it out. It sticks to your shoe, and will not go out that way. use a bucket of water.

Yeah.........it is.....
Except real napalm has benzine in it. There is one type of benzine that is toxic, like a carcinogen, i think its spelled benzene,,,,, that stuff is BAD.
Or, I could have it reversed, im not sure.

As far as I know, there is no chemical term "benzine".
However, this is a carciogenic chemical "benzene": C6H6, boiling point ~60C, burns smokey, excelent solvent, used to be sold as aftershave.

(all from memory up there...)

By the way, I've found that a few percent sulfur (5% or so) really helps the coloration and amount of the smoke when using the standard XNO3-sucose mixture.
Not news to most people, but I figured I might as well mention it.

OK, I just looked up benzene* on Wikipedia, not that its always accurate, but they said that it is a carcinogen, and its usage as an aftershave was stopped because it was BAD for you.

Benzine** is a petroleum distillate, and benzine** is another name for petroleum ether, according to WIKI, which has been known to be wrong occasionally.

Ammosmoke, the only way to never be incorrect is to never say anything.

That said, check out this research paper...

I'm not exactly sure what the article means....does it mean wiki is accurate, or just not likely to be innaccurate?

And yes, I know what you mean about never being incorrect.
There is this saying.....

"Even a fool is thought to be wise until he opens his mouth to speak."
~Bible.....new testament (I think)

Edit: Lets gits us some shuga' and lite it up! LOL

It means that the wiki makes 4 mistakes for every 3 that brittanica makes... except that if you read their data set, you notice that these results arn't that accurate, and could easily be the effect of one or two biased experts. (something like 1/3rd of the errors are from two articals, IIRC)

...but, as far as I know, it's the only study of it's kind.
At the very least, it shows that wikis arn't as inaccurate as some imply they are.
