You can count to 1023 (+0) using binary, I'm not sure how to get to 1028.

1023 is pretty low for what can be done with counting on hands.

I once came up with a way to get past two and a half million, although not very easy to learn, and it's generally just more sensible to just count out loud.
Alternately, with a variation on the method, you can count to over 1,500 on each hand.

John... That is Perfect! it is just like my girlfriend! Hey speaking of which, for valentines day, I'm torn between silky pj's, an illustrated Kama sutra, or some nice smelling bath stuff ( me and other friend went speculative shopping today) what do you think?

And John, I was completely not insulting you back there! it was all my tech teacher! I wouldn't make fun of you, I actually quite value our discussions...

True, with the range of motion of the human hand there are a lot of ways to get to much higher numbers, but I was taking "using my fingers jsut like you would normally make it to ten" as meaning each finger only has two possible states and you can only use your fingers, not the positions of your hand.

Fair enough.

I have however realised how I can make it past 42 million using a variation on the technique.
