Rule of thumb from the office: If you're nervous about the possibility of getting hurt by an operation, you're doing it wrong. STOP IMMEDIATELY!

D_Hall, spot on. I guess in your line of work, if you're concerned about
a who knows how many square metre hybrid, you would stop.

Anything I try making has most likley been thought about
for several months, so any flaws are generally ironed out.

But I think I'll take up D-Hall's position on safety.

I got a small cheap chinese made ATV just to destroy it. I drove up a road and was going to do a "scandinavian flick" and drive sideways through a turn. I was then going to floor it and gear up to continue the drift.
I forgot that I had to take the leaver down to gear up (chinese) and I geared down. It just shot straight into a 3m high bank with barbwire fence and stumps at the bottom.
At the moment I went off I jumped off and then the picture of my feet in front of me and a painfull fall beneath me remained before my eyes for a while. Really strange "Oh shi*" feeling.

The next thing I remember is lying like a ball in the fence face down and turning my head to look up, only to see the ATV falling towards me and eventually hitting me and knocking me out one more time while it pushed me through the fence and into a log where we stopped.

That is the only time I really had what I would consider a damn good "Oh SHI*" moment.

I have been driving dirtbikes on the mountains for a few years and sometimes I decide to drive down in my own track and just floor it since I know that's there nothing in the way there. It ALLWAYS end with the front wheel sinking into the ground and me flying like an arrow though the air and being burried in some swamp like stuff gasping for air.
